Knockhill Classic SpeedFair ..
to be launched at StoneleighThe third annual Classic SpeedFair at Knockhill will be unveiled to the public during Race Retro, the International Historic Motorsport Show at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry, on 14-16 March. To develop interest in the event, the organising team from Knockhill will have a stand in the main 'Speed Street' at Stoneleigh and are inviting competitors, spectators and members of the historic racing and classic car fraternity to visit the stand and find out more about the event.Over the weekend of 7/8 June the Dunfermline will track play host to a celebration of motor sport history, with a stunning array of racing Ferraris at the heart of the action. The Classic SpeedFair will enjoy the backing of Event Scotland when it moves to an early summer date for 2008 and marks the racing successes of Sir Jackie Stewart OBE and his late brother Jimmy. The JYS Trophy, in honour of the three-time World Champion, will again go to the winner of the Formula Ford 1600 knock-out event. With interest in the category running at record levels in Scotland, a bumper field is expected with drivers from Scotland, Ireland and England.Meanwhile a new Jimmy Stewart Trophy will honour the memory of Jackie's elder brother Jimmy, who sadly passed away earlier this year at the age of 76. Jimmy was a talented racer in his own right and earned drives with the Ecurie Ecosse, Aston Martin and Jaguar teams in international sports car races in the early and middle 1950s."We're exhibiting at Stoneleigh as part of our development plan for this event," said Stuart Gray from Knockhill. "We want to invite everyone to come and meet us and talk about the event, whatever their interest in historic motorsport and classic cars. The Classic SpeedFair is growing year on year, and there will be something for all tastes."
