These are words that you might understandably expect our team to use about the Rocketeer MXV6 that they’ve developed and drive every day, but when globally important journalists are saying it about our cars too, we wanted to share the news.
Recently, Henry Catchpole from Hagerty, with its 3.4 million YouTube subscribers, took the Rocketeer MXV6 for an evaluation drive over some of the finest UK country lanes. As an ex-EVO Features Editor and Hagerty road tester, he has driven almost every sports, super and hypercar on the market. And how does the Rocketeer compare?
“The basic ingredients in the Rocketeer are exactly what I want in a high-end supercar, something like Gordon Murray’s cars. They’re based on exactly the same sort of philosophy – manual gearbox, lightweight, naturally aspirated multi-cylinder engine, good ride quality, great steering feel and nice pedal feel – it’s all in the Rocketeer as well”.
He continued, “There is also something wonderful about how easy it is to access the fundamental joys of a sports car in the Rocketeer. This really is such an easy car to enjoy”.
And he concluded, “Perhaps the biggest compliment I can pay the Rocketeer MXV6 is that if Mazda had done a V6 MX5 as one of their many special editions, I think this is what it would have been like.”

And earlier in the month, our friends from Classic Driver published their road test evaluation of the Rocketeer MXV6 too. Entitled ‘The restomod that ruined sports cars for me’, you can tell they liked it.
Talking about the driving experience, “the Rocketeer MX-5 is akin to putting on a tailored driving glove — it just fits. The way the Rocketeer dances along the road is simply astonishing”.
And comparing the Rocketeer MXV6 to other restomods in the market? “In a world filled with exposed carbon Singers and menacing Lancia restomods, the Rocketeer could easily pass as a mostly-stock, tastefully lowered and well-maintained MX-5. Even the rota wheels would look remarkably OEM to the uninitiated, which makes Rocketeer’s offering the perfect solution for those who simply want to enjoy a world-class driving experience without shouting about how much money they spent to achieve it”.
