French historic registration title

Presented at Geneva in 1961, the E-Type was an immediate success and was soon voted ‘most beautiful car in the world’. In addition to its superb lines, designed by Malcolm Sayer, it was its exceptional performance that set a new benchmark forsportiness. Available as a coupé and a roadster, it was initially marketed with a 6-cylinder 3.8-litre engine, before receiving a 4.2-litre engine developing 265 hp in 1964.

Sold new in France by importer Royal-Elysées, our E-Type was acquired by its current owner in 1981. Today, it is in satisfactory condition. The bodywork was repainted in 2000, and the paintwork is tight and looks good, although there are a few chips and blemishes.

Originally fitted with a 3.8-litre engine, it is now fitted with a 4.2-litre 6-cylinder engine and manual gearbox. Our roadster underwent a major overhaul in 2020 at a cost of more than €4,700, and has covered just 400 km since then.

The engine starts well and runs smoothly, but our road test showed that the clutch slips under hard acceleration. It’s worth noting that the vehicle’s last MOT, in February, showed failures. Offered at an attractive price, this French E-Type is an interesting opportunity.
