Sunoco Performance Products has announced the introduction of a new race gas – HCR Plus™, designed for use in very high compression race engines.
“After months of careful development, our much-anticipated and requested HCR Plus is ready,” commented Rob Marro, General Manager, Sunoco Performance Products and Automotive Events. “Rather than rush to get a fuel out the door, we wanted to make sure HCR Plus would answer all the demands of racers and engine builders while complementing our existing fuel line-up. As the racing gasoline industry leader, we at Sunoco Race Fuels believe it is our obligation to set the standard.
With our HCR Plus we are confident the standard has been set for high compression, sustained load applications.” HCR Plus is specifically targeted for racing engines with a very high compression ratio that operate under sustained high speeds and loads.
It has an (R+M)/2 octane rating of 114. It contains no oxygenates and will tolerate a lot of heat which helps resist vapor locking. The fuel is leaded, so it is for off-road use only. Sunoco has been working with Coronet Racing Engines, Malcuit Race Engines and other top late model engine builders for several months to develop this fuel. Billy Moyer, current World Of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series championship point leader, has been testing this fuel this season.
In fact, Moyer won his fourth WoO Late Model event, the “27th Annual Coca-Cola Summernationals Classic 50” at Tri-State Speedway in Pocola, OK just last week. “I have been very pleased with the fuel,” stated Moyer. “Given how hot it has been where we have raced lately, it really helps to have a fuel that runs this cool.” The fuel will be available from Sunoco Race Fuels master distributors August 1st.
