Following the recent announcement of its new race car for 2006, the C400, Caterham Cars are now pleased to confirm pricing.
The C400 is based on the hugely successful R400 chassis with the addition of an all new Cosworth-developed engine, a 2-litre Ford Duratec unit producing a massive 220bhp in race trim. The extremely low mass of the R400 chassis combined with Cosworth power has produced a potent racer that is set to shake-up Caterham motorsport in 2006. The car is to be offered both as a race car in partial build form and as an engine conversion pack for existing R400 race cars.
A road-going version of the C400 is currently undergoing development and it is anticipated that this programme will be completed towards the end of spring 2006.
The Race Car – Partial builds
The C400 Race Car is on sale now with prices starting from £26,995 inc VAT.As a Christmas present to its loyal motorsport customers, Caterham Cars are offering a £500 discount on orders placed on or before 16th January 2006.The offer is limited to the first 10 orders placed, so racers are urged to get their deposits down without delay to ensure their place on the grid!
The Conversion Pack
The combination of proven R400 chassis set-up and specially developed powerplant opens up the exciting possibility of existing R400 racers upgrading their cars to C400 specification. Caterham Cars are making this option available to R400 owners via a ‘C400 Conversion Pack’ which includes the Cosworth engine and bespoke throttles, intakes, ECU, dry sump and exhaust. The Conversion Pack is on sale now at £9,350 ex VAT.
A competitive part-exchange programme is in place which offers a heavy price reduction to purchasers of the Conversion Pack trading in their used R400 K-Series engine*. For customers taking up this option, the price of the pack falls to just £7,600 ex VAT**
As with the race car, Caterham Cars are offering a special £500 discount on the C400 Conversion Pack part exchange deal for orders placed before 16th January 2006, reducing the price further to an amazing £7,100 ex VAT!

Background Information
The C400 will race next season in the UK Caterham Challenge and Eurocup, lining up side-by-side with the R400 race car. The new machine has just completed a rigorous test and development programme and is delighting engineers and test drivers with its impressive blend of performance, reliability and driveability.
