Unique cutaway turbocharger for Rallye Sunseeker charity auction
Rally Sunseeker sponsor Turbo Dynamics is also set to support the event's gala dinner and auction by donating a unique cutaway turbocharger to the charity auction.
Based on a GT28 Ball Bearing turbocharger which would normally be used on a 1.8 litre basic engine the example set to go under the hammer has been modified to illustrate the first part of the first design stage of one of Turbo Dynamics' highly respected Hybrid turbochargers.
In its whole form it would be capable of 340 to 350 engine BHP, with very good response characteristics and is worth in excess of £1,800.
The whole Turbocharger is cutaway at 90 degrees, so the ball bearing cartridge, and the fascinating internal components and layout of this cleverly designed turbocharger, are clearly visible and the whole piece would make an elaborate paperweight or talking point in any trophy cabinet.
Te Bournemouth branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society will be the charity to benefit from the Rallye Sunseeker Gala Dinner and auction which will be held in Rally Headquarters, the Bournemouth Highcliff Marriott Hotel, on Thursday 23 rd February.
Among the guests appearing at the function, which raised more than £9000 in 2005, is BBC Radio 2 disc jockey Ed 'Stewpot' Stewart who will be joined by a number of former winners of the rally which is celebrating its 21st birthday this year.
All proceeds from the evening will be added to those from last year and the total amount will go towards the building of a new purpose-built Physiotherapy Clinic at the MS Day Centre in Parley, near Bournemouth International Airport .
