FAN TOUR TAKING INDY 500 EXCITEMENT ON THE ROAD ACROSS INDIANA

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway celebrates the 90th Running of the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race by taking the festivities of “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” back on the road this spring with the Indy 500 Fan Tour presented by Meijer/Coca-Cola.

Created to bring the excitement and anticipation of the Indianapolis 500 to fans, the Tour will travel across the state of Indiana and surrounding states. The Tour starts Friday, Feb. 24 and continues through the 90th Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 28.

The Tour is free for fans of all ages.

“The Indianapolis 500 has been an integral part of Indiana history since 1911, and the Indy 500 Fan Tour presented by Meijer/Coca-Cola allows our fans to begin celebrating the 90th running of the Indianapolis 500 even before track activity begins,” said Joie Chitwood, IMS president and chief operating officer.

The Tour kicks off from 4-8 p.m. (local time) Feb. 24 at Fastimes Indoor Karting in Indianapolis. IndyCar® Series drivers, including Scott Dixon, Ed Carpenter and Vitor Meira, will race against local Indianapolis media. Fans can watch the competition and get a first-hand look at the Tour.

A 35-foot trailer adorned with the 2006 Indianapolis 500 logo and images narrating the history and events surrounding “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” will be the main attraction for the Tour. Other components of the Indy 500 Fan Tour presented by Meijer/Coca-Cola:

•A full-size IndyCar Series simulator

•Various collectables from drivers who competed in the Indianapolis 500

•Photo opportunities with life-size cut-outs of 2005 Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon, 2004 IndyCar Series champion Tony Kanaan and 2005 Indianapolis 500 JPMorgan Chase Rookie of the Year Danica Patrick

•IndyCar Xbox video game competition

•Indianapolis 500 Race Day tickets available for purchase
