Perera tops Barcelona test

Franck  Perera  has  finished  the  third  pre-season  test  of  the  2006  GP2  series  with  the  fastest overall laptime. The French Dams driver posted his time early on the morning of the second day of  running  to  push  iSport  International’s  Ernesto  Viso into second position, with Lewis Hamilton third for ART Grand Prix.

Lewis’ team-mate Alex Premat finished the test with the fourth fastest time, with Nicolas Lapierre fifth for Arden International. Viso’s team-mate Tristan Gommendy finished the session just behind Lapierre  in  sixth  position.  Seventh  and  eighth  fastest  were  the  Piquet  Sports  entries  of  Nelson Piquet  Jr  and  Alexandre  Negrao,  while  Adrian  Valles  drove  a  promising  two  days  for  Campos Racing to land the ninth fastest time, just ahead of Super Nova International’s Jose Maria Lopez.

The  GP2  series  now  moves  straight  on  to  Valencia  for  the  final  pre-season  test  of  2006.  The teams will arrive at Circuit Ricardo Tormo later this week, ready for the two-day test which begins on March 5th. With the GP2 series 2006 season launch taking place on the evening of April 7th, the action begins in earnest the very next day as the first race weekend of the 2006 season kicks off on April 8-9 in Valencia.
