Dunlop Race Academy Winner Crowned

Following a head to head shoot out at Silverstone, the winner of Dunlop Race Academy 2006 has finally been crowned.

Somerset driver, Rob Parkman fought off competition from over 5000 entrants to take the title following the gruelling final stage on Thursday, August 24th. Tied in second place were the runners-up and Leeds-based James Haslam and the South East finalist, Barry McClure.

Rob said: “I really didn’t expect to win as the other two drivers performed better than me in the semi-final. I was blown away and now I can’t wait for the race at Donington in October.”

Rob was evaluated during solo laps in a fully race prepared Ginetta G20 and also passed his Approved Racing Driver School course with flying colours. He will go on to race against 40 of the UK’s top racing drivers in the televised Ginetta Championship during the Dunlop Great and British Championship finals at Donington on October 22nd.

After taking part in the championship race, Rob will go on to sample some of the perks and privileges of being a racing driver, as he jets off to Monaco for a couple of nights stay at the world famous Columbus hotel owned by Britain’s own F1 driver David Coulthard.
