FIA Formula 2 Championship LIVE on Motors TV

Motors TV is the new, exclusive pan-European broadcaster for the FIA Formula Two Championship and will screen all 16 races (2 per meeting) live and in full in 2011.

The two 40-minute races, held on Saturday and Sunday, will be screened uninterrupted, without any commercial breaks.

The Formula Two Championship was revived in its present form in 2009, with FIA support, by former F1 driver Jonathan Palmer. The single-seater formula sees each driver using identical machinery designed by Williams F1 and powered by 425bhp Audi engines, with 500bhp available on overboost. F2 is positioned as a feeder to GP2 and Formula 1 and provides prizes of a Williams F1 test for the champion, GP2 tests for the drivers finishing second and third in the final standings and eligibility for FIA Superlicences for the championship top three.

Frédéric Viger, Director of Programming and Acquisitions, said: “In 2010 we significantly strengthened our range of live events and that will continue this year. Single-seater racing is one of the cornerstones of our programming so it was logical that F2 joined Motors TV. With Jonathan Palmer at the helm and Williams as technical partner, it is a great championship and we are proud to give it the coverage it deserves.”

F2 Chief Executive Jonathan Palmer added: "This is an exciting time for F2. We are delighted F2 will be one of the leading motor racing championships broadcast on Motors TV in 2011 and that the extended coverage can make F2 much closer to F1 in style of program. Motors TV is internationally acclaimed for its motorsport coverage, also broadcasting the FIA World Rally Championship and Australian V8 Supercars, and I am confident that their expertise will help give F2 its strongest ever TV package.”
