Better Views for Wales Rally Spectators

The organisers of Wales Rally GB have confirmed that the road improvements being undertaken by the Armed Forces on the Halfway Stage at Epynt will be completed in time for Wales Rally GB and will be used on this year’s event.  This promises some great new spectator viewing points.

"As a gravel rally we want to make sure that as much of the route is on gravel roads", confirmed Andrew Coe, Chief Executive, Rally GB Limited.  "We were, therefore, delighted when the Army announced that they wanted to undertake a new track works at Epynt, linking Dixies Crossroads and Burma Road/Gun Park Road.  This is a great demonstration of the partnership Wales Rally GB has with local communities and other organisations in Wales, including the MOD on whose land several stages of the Rally take place."

The completion of these new road works is ahead of schedule and we have already inspected the site to ensure it meets our requirements.  We think it will give the competitors some exciting new challenges  and it will give the spectators even more spectacular views."

The new gravel road has been built parallel to the old tarmac Gun Park Road

"Ticket sales for this year’s new September dates are going extremely well, in particular those passes which include the ever popular Halfway stage", confirmed Andrew Coe.  "And this new road will give spectators the chance to see the world’s top drivers produce some very high speeds  with spectacular views across the 18.5km Halfway Stage on the Saturday of the event."

The Event Pass and Saturday Day Pass 1 both give spectators guaranteed access to the Halfway Stage which will be run twice during the day.
