Jason Plato has won the second of today’s (Sunday) three Green Flag British Touring Car Championship rounds at Brands Hatch.
SEAT Sport UK driver Plato overtook Colin Turkington, who had started from pole position in his WSR MG, in the early stages and led all the way in a race punctuated by two safety car periods. It was former BTCC champion Plato’s sixth win of 2004 and he also set the race’s fastest lap. Plato’s win gives him pole position for the start of third race, which will be broadcast live on ITV1 at 16.05.
Meanwhile, Turkington finished second, just ahead of Plato’s team-mate Robert Huff. Turkington’s second place also earned him victory in the HarrierZeuros Independents Trophy.
In the title race, Vauxhall’s James Thompson finished fourth to move two points clear of team-mate Yvan Muller, who finished back in eighth.
