SMART BRITISH CLASSICS AT CCA SALE
E-type Jaguar owned for 48 years by Father and Daughter
Smart first-generation Daimler 2.5 V8
A superbly presented 1988 Jaguar XJ12 with dealer stamped service record
Classic Car Auctions are to offer a very early Jaguar XK140 at the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show held at the NEC on the 28th and 29th March.
Presented in lovely condition this XK140 is one of several cars from this marque being offered which include the classic E-type, Daimler’s version of the Mark 2 Jaguar and a sparkling XJ12 in Arctic Blue.
“Jaguars are always very popular, with E-types doing well at our December auction last year. Having an XK140 is a lovely addition and what’s more, it is an early car, Number 90 off the production line.” commented Gary Dunne.
The XK140 was the successor to the loved XK120 so had a lot to live up to. Improvements over its predecessor were more interior space, improved brakes and this 1955 model on offer still has those original drum brakes.
It was always a guessing game to work out an XK140 from a XK120, among the main distinguishing parts being the bumpers which were more substantial and turn signals above the front bumpers.
This particular car has been owned by a Father and Daughter for 23 years and has been well looked after. The bodywork appears to look fantastic and is well presented in Indigo Blue with a very smart Dove Grey interior.
The car was subject to an older restoration but retained many original features and still looks elegant today. A lovely fixed head coupe for an estimated £40,000 to £45,000.
E-types did well for CCA at the end of last year, so their first auction of the year features a 1966 UK supplied Series 1 Plus 2 with a manual gearbox and three wipers.
Again, this is a Father and Daughter owned car, having been in the family for 48 years and treated as such. It underwent restoration some years ago and included a complete engine rebuild. Finished in Old English White this car has been guided sensibly at £35,000 to £40,000 to allow for further improvements to make it very special.
Our next lot maybe be mistaken for a Mark 2 Jaguar. The Daimler 2.5 V8 was the first Jaguar designed to have the Daimler badge. This 1966 model in a first-generation car with a substantial history file including documentation for a newly refurbished engine. Looking good in Opalescent Golden Sand with a Tan leather interior, estimated at £12,000 to £15,000, this is a lovely and very useable car with an MOT until January 2021.
If you are after something a little more modern to waft around in, CCA has a 1988 XJ12 5.3 with just 52,000 miles on the clock. This is a superbly presented and fastidiously maintained car, which has undergone £20,000 of work to get it to the condition it is now in. It comes with the original handbooks and a dealer stamped service record including recent history. Estimated at £11,000 to £14,000 this Arctic Blue Jaguar really does sparkle.
Gary commented further: “These are a few of the high-quality cars we have on offer at our forthcoming auction. We have our next Cars Coffee and Consignments at the British Motor Museum Gaydon on the 19th February and have a few appointments available if you are thinking of consigning your car.”
“Our experts will be on hand along with our professional photographer for free advice, valuations and photography plus a coffee and entry for two to the museum.”
Viewing takes place on the 27th March between 10am and 5.30pm with the auction getting underway on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th from 12pm.
