Alpine holds a slender advantage over Toyota in 6 Hours of Spa FP2

The second Free Practice session for the TOTAL 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps saw Alpine hold a slender advantage over Toyota at the top of the times this morning in continuing cool and overcast conditions. 


The #36 Alpine ELF Matmut A480-Gibson was the fastest car overall and in the Hypercar category.  Andre Negrao set the fastest time of the meeting so far with a 2m03.396s 


Negrao’s time was just 0.035s ahead of the second placed #8 Toyota GR010-Hybrid driven by Brendon Hartley.


The #51 AF Corse Ferrari entry of James Calado and Alessandro Pierguidi took the top spot in the LMGTE Pro class with an early session 2m13.552s lap by Calado.  The #91 Porsche GT Team 911 RSR–19 of Richard Lietz and Gimmi Bruni was second, just 0.2s off the Ferrari.


Filipe Albuquerque continues to be the benchmark in LMP2 for United Autosports USA as he set a 2m03.733s lap to go 0.35s faster than his Thursday best.   The # 26 G-Drive Aurus 01-Gibson was second as Nyck de Vries is the only other driver to get below the 2m04s mark in LMP2.   Inter Europol Competition was placed third in LMP2 as Alex Brundle’s early best of 2m04.230s boosts WEC full-season rookie team. 


The #77 Dempsey Proton Porsche heads the 12 car LMGTE Am class with Jaxon Evans posting a best lap of 2m14.170s.  Second fastest was the #54 AF Corse Ferrari with Giancarlo Fisichella lapping the 7km Spa circuit in 2m14.222s
