Two outstanding Vincent Black motorcycles at Silverstone Auctions

c1948 Vincent Black Lightning Replica – Built and owned by Peter Darvill
1955 Vincent Black Prince Series D – One of only 132

Silverstone Auctions have a number of exciting motorcycles with great provenance going under the hammer in The Classic at Silverstone Circuit on Friday 30th July. Their lot list is rapidly growing for their first dedicated motorcycle sale at their flagship event.

One of the star bikes of the sale is this c1948 Vincent Black Lightning Replica. This fabulous homage to the Black Lightning was built in the 1980s by Peter Darvill, famous for his racing exploits on his "featherbed" Norvin. At the time of its introduction in 1948, the Vincent Black Lightning was the fastest production motorcycle in the world with only 31 ever built and only 19 matching-number examples still exist today. The motorcycle was purchased directly from Peter in the 1990s by Silverstone Auctions’ vendor and has been part of a private collection for the last 25 years. This really is a fantastic addition to any bike collection and Silverstone Auctions have guided this bike at £70,000 - £90,000.

Mark Bryan, motorcyclist specialist for Silverstone Auctions, added “The lots already confirmed for this significant event are exceptional, the catalogue for this sale will be one of the best yet. Don’t miss your chance to submit an entry next to these two superb examples - with more many more live on our website such as this 1939 Norton Model 30 International 500.”

Another outstanding Vincent Black motorcycle in the sale is this 1955 Vincent Black Prince Series D. With only 132 ever produced when production ended in December 1955, this stunning example is mostly original, has never been restored and appears to have been well maintained throughout its life. With just two registered keepers and 5,616 recorded miles, this beautiful example maintains its original registration number. The Black Prince is accompanied by a history file which includes its original Vincent Parts Book and Owner’s Manual. Silverstone Auctions have guided this motorcycle at £50,000 - £60,000.

There are just a few days left to submit your motorcycle or classic car into Silverstone Auctions biggest sale of the year! Silverstone Auctions classic and competition car sale is taking place on Saturday 31st July and Sunday 1st August with the dedicated motorcycle sale on Friday 30th July at The Classic.
