Indy 500 entries

DREYER & REINBOLD RACING FILES TWO ENTRIES

Longtime IndyCar® Series team Dreyer & Reinbold Racing filed two entries April 5 for the 89th Indianapolis 500, naming veteran Roger Yasukawa and rookie Jeff Bucknum as the drivers.

The 89th Indianapolis 500 is scheduled for Sunday, May 29 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Entries must be postmarked by midnight Wednesday, April 6.

Yasukawa, from Los Angeles, will drive the No. 24 Dreyer & Reinbold Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone, with a backup entered. Brian Franzosi is chief mechanic.

Yasukawa will attempt to make his third career Indianapolis 500 start. He has been a model of consistency in his first two starts, finishing 10th in 2003 and 2004 after starting 11th in 2003 and 12th in 2004.

Bucknum, from Lake Havasu City, Ariz., will return a storied name of American racing to the Speedway while driving the No. 44 Investment Properties of America Dallara/Honda/Firestone. A backup has been entered. Dan Miller is the chief mechanic.

Scheduled to make his IndyCar Series debut April 30 at Motegi, Japan, with Dreyer & Reinbold, Bucknum is the son of three-time Indianapolis 500 starter and Formula One and sports car standout Ronnie Bucknum. Ronnie Bucknum was one of the drivers on Honda’s first entry into Formula One in 1964. The late Bucknum also started the Indianapolis 500 in 1968, 1969 and 1970.

Jeff Bucknum, 38, comes to Indianapolis with experience in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, and the American Le Mans Series, Star Mazda Series and Barber Dodge Pro Series.

John O’Gara is the team manager of both entries filed by Dreyer & Reinbold, co-owned by eight-time Indianapolis 500 starter Robbie Buhl and Indianapolis businessman Dennis Reinbold.
