This BMW 2002 is finished in factory Chamonix White with full red Marlboro wrap in keeping with the 1970s competition cars, although never raced/tracked and road legal. In the vendor's possession since July 2016, 'GLO 463N' has been magazine-featured three times in the UK and Europe, Performance BMW being one of the publications. The car has also won numerous trophies over the last five years at various shows.
Wide wheel arches are fitted to accommodate 15"x9" diamond cut Minilite wheels. The front bumper has been removed and bespoke alloy chin and rear boot spoilers fitted. The windscreen has been replaced with a safer laminated type, and the car has been lowered for a more aggressive stance.
The interior was removed, and the cabin soundproofed throughout before a new carpet and full mat set was fitted. There are new Cobra racing seats up front, in keeping with the car's era, and an additional oil pressure gauge alongside the main cluster. The centre console has a racing ignition panel with pushbutton start and switches for main power and external fuel pump complete with removable battery isolator. The steering wheel and gear knob have been replaced with genuine leather Nardi items, while handheld fire extinguishers are fitted in the foot-well and dashboard.
The matching numbers, 2.0 litre engine benefits from no-expense-spared rebuilds of the top and bottom ends using new and upgraded parts (see bills for circa £10,000 on file). The cylinder head has been skimmed and lightened, and the compression ratio raised. Twin 45 Weber carburettors and a 'fast road' cam have been fitted and set up correctly on a rolling road dynamometer. It is highly tuned and now develops power comparable to that of a BMW 2002 Turbo. The handmade exhaust system is stainless steel throughout, with twin centre-exit tailpipes. A new stainless-steel radiator and Samco hoses are fitted together with an external fan with temperature control sensor. Other notable features include an oil catch-tank; bespoke handmade alloy washer bottle; strut brace; and relocated battery (in the boot).
