The third edition of the 1000 Miglia Warm UP USA finished with the victory of the Italian crew. The transatlantic 1000 Miglia event, three years after the last edition in 2019, travelled through Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland before arriving in Washington D.C. and crossing the finish line on Italian soil at the Italian Embassy in the United States.
The crews, after the first day of circuit training, tried their hand at three days of road racing: gradually becoming more and more familiar with the sporting principles of classic regularity races, instruments, tubes and road books, veteran crews and beginners in regularity racing had the chance to measure themselves in time trials, average trials and time controls distributed along the more than 700 km route.
Spurred on by the enthusiasm of the children who enlivened the morning departures from Middleburg, participants braved the chilly temperature and were rewarded with the beauty of clear skies over expanses of meadows and woods in the striking colors of foliage, a symbol of rural American autumn, where it is customary to come across horses, stags, foxes, deer, raccoons and squirrels.
"We are particularly happy to be back in these places after an absence of three years" said Aldo Bonomi, President of AC Brescia, owner of the 1000 Miglia brand "Taking the spirit of the 1000 Miglia to the world is the goal we have set for ourselves and, I must say, the response we are receiving at events such as the USA Warm Up confirms that we are on the right track".
"Thanks to the institutions and local Partners that have welcomed and supported us with great enthusiasm" echoes Alberto Piantoni CEO of 1000 Miglia "with great conviction we can continue our project of growth and development of the brand, that Red Arrow that still today, after almost one hundred years, is able to arouse the same emotions that accompanied its founding. The enthusiasm and active participation of competitors are a source of satisfaction for us and a motivation to spur us on to always do better. The appointment for next year is already set: in October 2023, we will return with the IV edition".
