WEC 6 Hours of Spa hypercar entry boosted by extra cars from Cadillac & Porsche

The entry list for the upcoming TotalEnergies 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, round three of the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship, features a record number of 13 Hypercars, owing to an additional entry from Cadillac Racing and a Porsche 963 run by Hertz Team JOTA

FIA WEC’s Hypercar class featuring entries from Cadillac, Ferrari, Glickenhaus, Peugeot, Porsche, Toyota and Vanwall will be further strengthened for round three of the season.

The second Cadillac V-Series.R Hypercar to compete at the Belgian venue will be co-driven by IMSA SportsCar Championship regulars Sebastien Bourdais and Renger van der Zande, with the American manufacturer using the additional car as it aims to maximise its preparations for the centenary 24 Hours of Le Mans, taking place the following month.

Another new addition to the Hypercar category will be the #38 Hertz Team JOTA Porsche 963. The British outfit steps up to the top class, having started the season with an Oreca 07 - Gibson LMP2 car, and will field WEC’s first Hypercar class customer car. The squad has listed drivers Antonio Felix da Costa, Will Stevens and Yifei Ye for its class debut.

Round three of the series will see a strong representation of local drivers. Porsche Penske Motorsport will be boosted by extra support from home fans as Belgian driver Laurens Vanthoor will compete in the #6 Porsche 963, while team-mate Andre Lotterer also has strong links to Belgium having been raised in the country.

The highly-competitive LMP2 class will see 11 Gibson-powered Oreca 07s, with all eyes on Belgium-based Team WRT as they will look to secure their second win in a row at their home circuit.

Fourteen cars will make up the LMGTE Am category with three local drivers representing their home nation. Sarah Bovy from Iron Dames Porsche 911 RSR will be eager to replicate her superb performance from the recent 1000 Miles of Sebring where she claimed class pole position for the all-female line-up. The other Belgian drivers include the likes of Alessio Picariello, in a sister Iron Lynx Porsche, and AF Corse’s Ulysse de Pauw.
