The XIV Historical Reenactment of the Coppa Milano-Sanremo and back, staged on 23-26 March, saw Romeo Ferraris protagonist with four cars, contributing to the achievement of the 124 registration quota, up on the previous difficult years affected by the pandemic. The best lineup, able to finish sixth in class and second in category 3, was the one that saw the winner of 2022, Stefano Mereghetti, foudner of Tartarughino club, alongside Alex Martinelli, member of the Tartarughino club as well, and owner of Wave Italy, which during the 4th Romeo Ferraris Experience brought a simulator with the Giulia ETCR by Romeo Ferraris model. The duo formed by Alex and Stefano finished in 35th place overall with the coefficient of 5648.00, at the wheel of the Morgan Plus Six MY22 entered with number #121.
The Opera-based company fielded four lineups for the 2023 race, all in the modern supercars division: in addition to Mereghetti-Martinelli, technical director Mario Ferraris and group sales manager Lorenzo Bennati teamed up in another Morgan Plus Six 2023 version, registered with number 122; Luca Casati and Andrea Andreoni took part with the three-wheeled Morgan Super 3, identified by number 118, while Antonio and Sebastiano Cavalieri Ducati were at the wheel of the Caterham 485 CSR registered with number 116.
In its current incarnation, the Coppa Milano-Sanremo is a regularity race, in which the ranking is determined by compliance with the pre-established travel times of the special stages. The 2023 edition, characterized by 115 timed stretches for a total of 900 kilometres, crossed the evocative landscapes of Lombardy, Piedmont and Liguria. After the technical checks, the starting point was the legendary Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, then the cars hit the road towards Milan, Asti and Sanremo. The circular itinerary also reached Genoa, from where the caravan left on Sunday morning to return to the Lombard capital. The arrival was located in the historical centre, while the Automobile Club Milano in Corso Venezia hosted the award ceremony.
The Coppa Milano-Sanremo proved to be a perfect promotional showcase for the Morgan and Caterham models, of which Romeo Ferraris is respectively the official importer and dealer for Italy, which combine high performance and extreme driving pleasure, remaining true to the values of automotive tradition.
Michela Cerruti, General Manager Romeo Ferraris
"In the wake of last year's victory, we decided to return to the Coppa Milano-Sanremo with as many as four cars, showcasing the best of the Morgan and Caterham range. For Morgan, it was the first participation in this event with three models , thanks also to our support, while for Caterham it was the debut of the 485 CSR in a regularity race with such great value. An appointment of this kind maintains the spirit of competition, but it is also a fashion show, a journey, and for this reason it fits perfectly with the spirit of our models, in which the car is lived as a 360-degree experience. We are happy to have given our contribution to the success of the event, which is registering a growth in interest and attendance" .
