In August 2020, in connection with the release of the latest James Bond flick “No time to die” Aston Martin launched two special models inspired by Astons used in several James Bond films. They could be ordered immediately with delivery taking place from the first quarter of 2021. The cars, produced and delivered in a very limited number worldwide, were designed and equipped by “Q by Aston Martin”. The Vantage 007 edition was inspired by the original Aston Martin V8 used by the ultra-cool agent in the 1987 production “The living daylights” and also seen in “No time to die”. Based on the regular Vantage, the 007 special edition boasted some of the characteristic styling elements, most of all the special chrome surround grill in reference to the classic Aston Martin V8.
A further noteworthy detail is the diffuser which is highlighted by an intermittent yellow line, a nod to the warning stripes painted onto the film car’s rockets. In reference to the winterproof Coupé in “The living daylights” the Vantage 007 edition even boasts a ski carrier and a pair of skis were available in a very limited number. The James Bond connection continues in the interior where a laser-engraved plaque on the pedestal lists all the technical gadgets and weapons of the cars used in the films such as laser guns, rocket throwers, target monitor and brackets for the built-in skis, all the way to the rocket propulsion system.
To get the proper aim with the rockets, useful reticles engraved in the shift paddles are of invaluable assistance to any aspiring secret agent. The Vantage 007 Edition has a special badge in the door entry and was limited to a total of 100 units worldwide. The Aston Martin offered, with its four-litre twin turbo V8, 510 hp and eight-speed automatic gearbox, was delivered by Aston Martin in Zurich on the 21st November 2021 to its first owner. Besides a carbon braking system, the optional ski carrier as well as the ski set were ordered originally. Due to the first owner’s cash flow problems the Vantage was taken over by the second and last owner in April 2022. He only drove his car once and then parked it in his private collection.
In April 2023, at 1’730 kilometres, the most recent service was performed by Aston Martin Zurich. With now roughly 1‘735 kilometres on the clock the Vantage is in as-new condition and boasts an ongoing works warranty until November 2024. This extremely rare collector’s edition, with a decent potential to increase in value, will be handed over to a new owner with the last MOT completed in November 2021.
