Debuted at the January 2015 North American Auto Show in Detroit, Ford Motor Company’s latest GT was an instant success, winning its class, plus third, fourth and ninth places on its maiden race outing at the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans. Developed in parallel by Ford engineers with the Chip Ganassi Racing/Multimatic competition cars, the road-going Ford GT is essentially a thinly disguised FIA LM GTE-class racing car with a license plate.

Replete with modern high-tech materials, cutting-edge construction techniques and advanced performance technologies throughout, the GT includes competition-style pushrod-actuated dampers. Exuding an aerodynamic teardrop-like shape when viewed from above, the GT’s main bodywork tapers sharply to the rear and flying buttresses direct cooler air into the engine. Pontoon-style rear fenders echo the current crop of track-only Le Mans prototypes.

Mounted behind the driver is a 3.5L twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V-6 engine developing 647 HP—an astounding 183 HP per liter—and 550 lb-ft of torque. Harnessed by a paddle-shifted Getrag 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission/rear transaxle, the GT is capable of vaulting from rest to 60 MPH in under 3.0 seconds all the way up to a stunning 216 MPH terminal velocity.

Offered with 1,185 miles, this 2019 Ford GT Carbon Edition of course features the 3.5L/647 HP turbocharged EcoBoost V-6 engine and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Finished in a Liquid Grey Tri-coat exterior finish (a $5,000 option) and the Carbon Red graphics package (a $15,000 option), this highly equipped Ford GT also features the Carbon Fiber gloss exterior package and Carbon interior. Based upon a carbon fiber passenger shell, the GT’s aero-optimized exterior also includes lightweight, ultra-strong carbon fiber for the body panels, doors, hood, fenders, rear fascia, front splitter and under-body aero-shields. The deceptively luxurious passenger compartment includes a telescopic tilt steering column, fixed carbon fiber Sparco bucket seats and an integrated tubular steel roll cage.

Cutting-edge technologies include an active rear wing, pushbutton front lift system, electronic active damping and a speed-activated splitter, keel deployable rear wing and airbrake. Brembo carbon-ceramic disc brakes deliver stopping power with red-finished brake calipers, and the wheels are enhanced by Titanium lug nuts. Desirable items accompanying this fabulous modern supercar include the Ford GT ordering kit and window sticker, plus a battery tender and car cover.
