ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Misano (Italy), Races 6 and
Pascal Wehrlein clinches second win of the season after Mexico
Porsche also leads the manufacturers’ classification
António Félix da Costa’s win on Saturday rescinded
Pascal Wehrlein from the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team celebrated his second Formula E victory, after Mexico, on Sunday. This puts the German back at the top of the World Championship standings after finishing Saturday’s race without points and dropping down the rankings. Wehrlein is tied on points with Jake Dennis, who has notched up one victory so far this season at the wheel of Andretti Formula E’s customer-run Porsche. With Wehrlein as the winner and Dennis in second place, two Porsche 99X Electric race cars finished on the podium on Sunday.
Despite starting from the back of the field, Wehrlein’s teammate António Félix da Costa battled his way up the order to eleventh place only to then lose ground due to a damaged front wing. He ultimately took the flag in 19th place. Driving the second customer Porsche, Norman Nato finished the Misano-based race one position ahead of Da Costa.
Saturday’s winner António Félix da Costa disqualified
For round six on Saturday, Formula E’s debut in Misano, António Félix da Costa celebrated his first victory of the season. However, he subsequently lost it during a technical inspection by the International Automobile Association, the FIA, and the Portuguese race driver was disqualified. Shortly after the disqualification was announced, the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team declared its intention to appeal the FIA’s decision and has since been evaluating further steps. As a result of the disqualification, Jake Dennis moved up to second place and Norman Nato to eighth place. Pascal Wehrlein ended up in 16th place – a contact with another car relegated him far down the field.
Porsche works driver Matt Campell’s Friday assignment
In Misano, Formula E scheduled an additional practice session in which rookie drivers got the chance to gain experience behind the wheel of the electric racing cars. Australian works driver Matt Campbell drove for the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team.

António Félix da Costa, Porsche works driver (#13): “That was a tough weekend for us. We could’ve taken so much more home with us, but now we are leaving Misano empty-handed. The positive thing is that we were fast all weekend and actually won both races. I’m looking forward to Monaco – it’s a great race and I’ve already won there.”
