First-class hospitality in the finest Salon Privé tradition

The unique Salon Privé London Concours de Vente will this week host the world premiere of Vintage Bentley’s unique collection of five significant pre-war classic Bentleys. Years in the making, the Ultimate Collection is described as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire five of the most historically-significant vintage Bentleys – and like all entries at the Concours de Vente, they will be on sale to Salon Privé London guests.

The Ultimate Collection has been carefully curated to represent the significance of Bentley’s pre-war history, says Vintage Bentley. Originality is the cornerstone of the collection, with each car true to its original technical specification. They are all complete with a thoroughly-researched ownership history from new, and Vintage Bentley has given each car a thorough preservation or restoration. “This collection exemplifies significance and the brand; we believe there is no other collection comparable.”

The Ultimate Collection will be one of many highlights at this year’s Salon Privé London Concours de Vente – the only concours event in the world where every entry is for sale. This year’s line-up will also include a very special 1937 Alfa Romeo Supersport 6C with coachwork by Umberto De Mola. This one-off design was created to be the most beautiful car in the world. Displayed by DD Classics, the car has a famous roll call of owners including John Paul Getty and Nicolas Hayek (aka ‘Mr. Swatch’). It has a glittering provenance including multiple Pebble Beach showcases, it has run in the Mille Miglia – and, incredibly, it was used by the Netherlands’ Prince Bernhard, a true auto enthusiast, in the liberation ceremonies to mark the end of World War II.

For the third year running, Joe Macari returns to Salon Privé London to showcase five classic models in the Concours de Vente, including a stunning 1970 Lamborghini Miura P 400 S that’s been fully restored in iconic black and gold. It has been displayed at various European Concours d’Elegance, as well as the Miura 50thAnniversary celebrations hosted by Automobili Lamborghini. Now, Salon Privé London guests will have the chance to buy it at the Concours de Vente.

Furlonger Specialist Cars will present a remarkable ‘yin and yang’ Lamborghini Countach duo. A white 1982 Countach LP400S will line up alongside a black 1983 Countach 5000S in what is set to be an outstanding social media highlight. Like all models in the Concours de Vente, both cars are for sale.

P & A Wood will be bringing a 1966 Rolls-Royce Phantom V Touring Limousine by James Young, a car considered by many experts to be one of the finest coach-built cars since the war. Finished in black and ivory with champagne leather in the front and champagne cloth in the rear, this remarkable example is in excellent original condition.

The Octane Collection will provide a 1970s-themed thrill by showing a superb BMW E9 3.0 CSL, finished in vivid Ceylon Gold. Fresh from a painstaking four-year rebuild using era-correct techniques, it has been reborn effectively as a brand-new CLS, one as immaculate as when it rolled out of the BMW factory 50 years ago.

Godin Sporting Cars & Motorcycles has a special surprise – a 2001 AC Cobra MkIV CRS originally owned by 1996 F1 World Champion Damon Hill. One of just 37 lightweight ‘Carbon Road Series’ cars, it was registered to Damon’s famous P1 International Prestige and Supercar Private Members Club, and has since covered just 15,500 miles.

Aston Workshop returns to Salon Privé London Concours de Vente for the second year running. Last year, it won the prized Prix d’Honneur with a 1954 Aston Martin DB2/4 Vignale. This year, it is entering a 1967 Aston Martin DB6 Volante, which is believed to be one of the very best DB6 Volantes on the market.

Car-Iconics also returns to Salon Privé London for the second year running. The Oakham specialist is entering a head-turning 1978 Datsun 260Z in the Concours de Vente. The car has stunning and mainly original orange paint and has covered a mere 34,000 miles.

“We look forward to welcoming all our classic car dealers once again to Salon Privé London,” said director David Bagley. “These esteemed retailers really do deal in the very best of the best, proven by the stunning collection of cars entered into this year’s Concours de Vente. Our unique concours event will be as competitive as ever, and I can’t wait to find out which ones the judges deem to be the very finest of all this year.”

The Salon Privé London Concours de Vente has a celebrity judging panel for 2024, who plan to bring a fun and entertaining element to proceedings. Yasmin Le Bon, Amanda Stretton, Edd China, Steve Cropley and James Elliott will be the experts inspecting all the entrants, deciding the class winners and the Prix d’Honneur on Friday. On Saturday, the People’s Choice and Pensioner’s Choice will also be decided, and there will be a special public celebration for the Prix d’Honneur winner.

Other attractions at Salon Privé London include a tantalising selection of new cars from the world’s finest manufacturers, and a series of themed days that celebrate 50 years of the Porsche 911 Turbo, Magnificent McLarens, a world record parade of Aston Martin Valkyrie with AMV Owners Club and Supercar Saturday in partnership with SCC Private Members club.

Naturally, the traditional Salon Privé lifestyle and luxury will be evident throughout the Royal Hospital Chelsea event, with the best in high-end jewellery, boats, helicopters, food and drink plus plenty more to fascinate its elite guests.
