IPSWICH co-promoter Chris Louis says Knockout Cup success can provide the club with some consolation from missing out in the Premier League play-offs.The Witches were beaten at Somerset last Friday although they were really left to rue a previous defeat at Scunthorpe earlier in the group stages – but they still have the Cup Final against Edinburgh to look forward to this week.Louis said: “The damage had been done at Scunthorpe, which is the meeting that will sit with me as the one that derailed our Premier League title challenge. “However, I do know our riders want to go out on a high and what better way than to stop the Edinburgh Monarchs winning all the PL trophies this year!”(SPEEDWAY 2)
SOMERSET and Edinburgh have agreed dates for the Premier League Grand Final, which will take place over two nights later this month. The Rebels will host the first leg at the Oaktree Arena on Friday October 24, with the Armadale return the following evening – in a repeat of the 2013 Final.Somerset boss Garry May said: “Last year’s Final against Edinburgh was a classic event, both legs being close fought affairs, and I am sure that this year’s Final will be just as exciting, especially as Edinburgh will be looking to avenge losing out to us last year.“We’ll be wanting to defend our Championship crown, to be the first club to achieve such a feat since this Play-Off system was introduced to the Premier League.”
