Glamour on Sicilian roads in the historic regularity race organized by AC Palermo in collaboration with Automobile Club d'Italia and ACI Storico from October 15 to 18. Extraordinary entry-list with several Ferrari Tribute cars
The historic regularity race to be held from October 15 to 18 and organized by AC Palermo in collaboration with Automobile Club d’Italia and ACI Storico, Targa Florio Classica, is ready for the green light.
At the wheel of their exclusive historic or Ferrari Tribute cars competitors will race on the roads through the provinces of Palermo and Trapani.
Starting ceremony will be held in Giuseppe Verdi Square in front of the wonderful setting of the Teatro Massimo on Thursday, October 15 at 20h00.On Friday the event will be opened by an ability test with cars competing within the University campus near the Museo dei Motori e dei Meccanismi, Polytechnic School, University of Palermo, the department which is co-operating with the organization.
Then the first part of the route will cover the Via del Sale ("Salt Road"), in the Province of Trapani, heading to the Saline of Marsala, with windmills and the Egadi Islands as background. The exclusive "parade" will reach Mazara del Vallo, where competitors will visit the ancient Selinunte, Europe's largest archaeological park. This first leg is both full of competition, thanks to several ability tests, and exclusive visits and it was optimized in collaboration with AC Trapani.
On Saturday cars will be back in Palermo through the Via di Garibaldi, also known as Via dei Mille (literaly “Road of the Thousand”), the glorious path where unification of Italy started. Final leg on Saturday through the legendary towns and locations of the Madonie circuit, where Targa Florio's myth gets renewed every year, with the unmissable passage alongside the famous grandstands of Floriopoli at Cerda.
Volvo will be officially present with its own team and three crews in the race. Alfa Romeo, Bristol, Bugatti, Fiat, Lancia, Jaguar, MG and Porsche are the more represented makes thanks to many historic models built from 1933 to 1975 and crews from all over the world.
Moreover, many supercar from Maranello will shine for the Ferrari Tribute: from the brand new Ferrari 488to the 458 Italia, F430, 360 Modena, 550 Maranello, 612 and 599 "Scaglietti", California and 512.
Special guest of the event is Nino Vaccarella, the most famous Sicilian driver and Targa Florio three- time winner.
Logistics and assistance for the race have been planned with the support of ACI Global. Ma-FRA is the official partner alongside this 2015 edition with its high quality products for car maintenance.
