Árón Taylor-Smith storms to Silverstone BTCC pole

Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing enjoyed yet another stellar Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship qualifying at Silverstone earlier today (21 September), as Árón Taylor-Smith swept to pole position.

Team-mate Mikey Doble grabbed third on-the-track – following on from his own pole position at the same venue in 2023 – with Team BRISTOL STREET MOTORS' Tom Ingram wedged between the two Vauxhalls in second.

Rain descended onto the famous Northampton circuit midway through the action, but the drama had already begun when reigning champion Ashley Sutton exited at the Part 1 stage of qualifying for the first time, whilst Ingram just squeezed through at the same stage.

NAPA Racing UK's Sutton had initially made it through to the 'Quick Six' segment for the opening six race weekends of the season, but his qualifying performance unravelled at Silverstone.

Team BMW's Colin Turkington was fourth, ahead of Josh Cook and the hugely impressive rookie Dan Zelos.
