Former Grand Prix driver, now ITV’s Formula 1 commentator, Martin Brundle will be reunited with his Benetton B191 at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed on Sunday 9th July.
Brundle last raced the car in 1992, his most successful season in Formula 1. Brundle’s teammate that year was Michael Schumacher who scored his first ever World Championship points in this very car. Brundle said “I am looking forward to the Goodwood Festival as ever, particularly as there is a focus on 100 years of Grand Prix racing.” One of the most important historic racing events of the year, the Festival attracts Grand Prix sized crowds, eager to get close to the cars and drivers.
Martin Brundle last drove the Benetton, which is owned by Cars International at Donington Park for an ITV feature in which he compared the 1992 car to Michael Schumacher’s current Ferrari. He describes the car as “an old friend,” the last time Martin was in the cockpit of the Benetton he grinned, “fits like an old pair of trainers.” He said.
