Report below from Neil on his round UK trip:
Great day today weather was with us for a change, but today was a big psychological day for Pat, crossing the Bristol Channel? After a visit last night to meet the RNLI Coxswain in Appledore and taking his advise on the crossing, we had two choices the Neil One! Or the Pat One!
After a little discussion it was decided that Pat would take the lead with the Navigation today so we headed off after out call in to the Coast Guard, heading up towards Ilfracombe so its left out of the harbour flat out for 45min then turn right and go flat out for a hour, that seemed to do the trick until we stopped and after bobbing about for 10min in the middle of nowhere Pat thought we had gone round in a circle so if all else prevails get you compass out, the electronic box dont tell lies so we then headed off again to be followed by a pod of Porpoises, we had to stop as they were so close rubbing against the sides of the boats.
The sea conditions were great for clocking up some miles so we pushed on up to Aberystwyth, this is to be the overnight stop, we have been given free berth so we can install the new fixed sat navs from Garmin requiring some wiring modifications and re configuration to work with the radio sets, its now starting to rain so the thought of pitching camp is not looking to good so Mikes idea is to send me and John the Camera man to blag a room for the ship wrecked four? After several attempts we succeeded with a very kind lady so after a rewire in the rain and refuel hopefully we will be ready for a exit before the weather front moves in. 2200 and we are going to find our room still with a small problem with the update for the new units.
