Racecar customer capped a great weekend in Scotland at the Knockhill round of the Carrera Cup GB by being awarded driver of the weekend - PR below:

Round 15 and 16 of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB took place at Knockhill this weekend. Charles Bateman is supported by Henderson Insurance Brokers and Pilgrim Foodservice, came away with podium success. Contesting the Pro class, Bateman bettered his 4th place finish in race one to finish 3rd in race two.

After a strong showing in qualifying yesterday, Bateman lined up 6th on the grid for race one. Bateman jumped up into 4th after two drivers ahead of him made contact. He was chasing hard for 3rd but handling issues late on in the race slowed the young driver.

For race two it was a 3rd row start for Bateman. During a dramatic 30 lap race, Bateman managed to get up to 2nd. A small mistake saw Bateman slip down to 3rd but he battled right to the flag, providing a thrilling race until the very last moment.

Clearly delighted with his performance Bateman said, “We’ve had a fantastic race day at Knockhill. I thought we may have been able to get another 3rd place finish in race one but the handling issues were just too much for me to overcome.

“Race two was full of drama with drivers going off on oil, luckily we made it through ok. I got a good restart after the safety car and sat in 2nd for a while. I made a mistake out of the chicane letting Hankey through but we had a good battle right up until the end. We had to settle for 3rd but I think it was still a good result coming from 5th on the grid.”

Charles was also awarded driver of the weekend for his strong race performances over the weekend.
