Brands Hatch Finale Success for Charles Bateman
Boston Porsche Carrera Cup racer Charles Bateman ended the 2010 season on a high note at the Kent circuit this weekend. The Motorbase Performance driver gained vital points for the team to win the prestigious title of Team of the Year 2010. At the start of the weekend the team were 4 points ahead, but after Race 1 had dropped to 5 points behind. The combined effort of Charles' and team mate Michael Caine's points in Race 2 finally clinched the title by 21 points. In Race One Charles got an immaculate start which saw him power through the field on the opening laps. Bateman worked hard to make up for a tough qualifying session, eventually finishing in an impressive 5th position. Race Two again saw Charles battling hard. Sadly for Charles, he had an unfortunate collision with Tom Bradshaw which saw the talented 23 year-old sustain serious damage to his car. Nevertheless, he worked hard to nurse his car home in a superb 6th. Charles will now make plans to ensure he can come back even stronger in 2011.A satisfied Charles commented, “I am happy with today’s performance. Obviously the incident in Race Two wasn’t ideal but nevertheless that’s racing and these things happen. I am happy to have contributed to securing the teams championship for Motorbase Performance. They have done an amazing job all year and truly deserved the title. This season was my first year with the team and I have really enjoyed my time with them and their approach to racing. I would also like to everyone who has helped me this season and Pilgrim Foodservice and Henderson Insurance Brokers for the level of support. It has been amazing.”
