Gearlink Kawasaki Brands Indy‏ review

Dickies British SupersportThe Gearlink Kawasaki team once again seemed to draw the bad luck card at round three of the Dickies British Supersport Championship at the Brands Hatch Indy Circuit. Luke Hedger had a steady weekend with a ninth and sixth. Mason Law had an unfortunate crash in race one and was 13th in race two.The two riders worked hard over the weekend to find a suitable set-up for the very short Brands Hatch Indy Circuit. Luke ended up qualifying in 10th place for the opening Sprint race on Saturday. He got a steady start and was 11th before the race was red-flagged due to rain. As the team prepared in the melee in the pits Luke unfortunately missed the pit lane closure and was forced to start the re-start from the back of the grid.Considering he had to work his way through the pack of over 30 riders Luke did an amazing job and rode extremely well to secure a ninth place at the end of the 12-laps. He had to start from 12th place on the grid for race two. He got a good start and was eighth after lap one and found himself battling for a podium position on lap 14 and was up to second. The racing was extremely close and a lot of passes were being made, Luke worked hard to gain sixth place.Mason Law seems to have had a string of bad luck since the start on the season and has been troubled with injuries and crashes since the start of the season at Silverstone in April. He was improving during the practice sessions and despite several changes on the bike he was only able to qualify in ninth place on his Gearlink Kawasaki. He got a strong start but unfortunately high-sided coming out of Graham Hill on the opening lap and crashed out of the race.He dropped back to 15th place for race two and knew it would be a tough day to secure some Championship points. He struggled off the start and only made up one place on lap one and he pushed hard and was up to 12th in the closing stages but Bradley Ray made a move on Mason and he was forced to finish in 13th position.Luke Hedger - "It was a good and bad weekend at Brands. It started off good then it went downhill but we managed to pick it back up in race two. We tried hard and got some good solid points in the Championship. Thank you to the Gearlink Kawasaki team and all my sponsors for all their continued help and support."Mason Law - "I just keep thinking that things have to change for the better sometime soon. We have been working hard this weekend to move everything in the right direction but it has been a struggle. I made a mistake in the first race and crashed out, I was a bit sore for race two and tried to dig deep to secure a good result. I managed a couple of Championship points but know I am able to do better. We have a few weeks off now so hopefully I can fully recuperate, get back to full fitness and come back in fighting form at Knockhill."MCE British SuperbikeIn the MCE British Superbike series, the Gearlink Kawasaki rider, Italian Vittorio Iannuzzo, had a tough weekend through no fault of his own. Vittorio and the team had made a lot of good progress and he qualified in 22nd place and was looking forward to the races. In race one he was riding well but he got caught up in a crash between Jenny Tinmouth and James Rispoli and without warning was taken out. He was taken to the medical centre and declared fit to ride for race two. On the grid the team noticed there was a problem with the bike so they wheeled it off the grid, managed to get it fixed and he started from pit lane. He rode a strong race to finish in 20th place.Vittorio Iannuzzo - "This may sound a little strange but this weekend for me, was good. Even if we didn't get the final result that we wanted and deserved. We were fast in all the sessions and really close to the top times. We only missed out on the Q2 session by 0.2 of a second. What happened in race one is just racing. In the second race the team worked really hard and really fast to get my bike right. I had to start from pit lane and everything was hurting after the crash, I think I might have broken a rib which I will get checked tomorrow.I would like to thank the Gearlink Kawasaki team for all their work this weekend and I know we are making progress for the rest of the year."Team Manager Michael de Bidaph - "In the Supersport class the practice sessions were ok but we haven't been reaching the times I know we are capable of.Luke suffered a technical problem in qualifying and therefore did not get the grid position that he deserved. On the re-start of the race, I don't know how or why but Luke missed the pit lane closure and therefore had to start from the back of the grid. Despite this is rode an exceptional race and made some fantastic passes which helped him secure a top ten position.Mason had an off on the first lap on the race coming out of Graham Hill, in turn both rider suffered with grid positions for race two.Luke was battling for a podium position at one point but we think with him pushing so hard his tyres were struggling for grip towards the end of the race. Mason rode well but also had problems with the front end and grip and it is something we are going to look into more thoroughly to find out why.In the Superbike class Vittorio was going really well. We are happy as we have been making good progress at every round with him and each session we are moving in the right direction. He got a good qualifying position but sadly was taken out in the first race. He was pretty beaten up but his gritty determination saw him go out on the grid for race two.We noticed a problem with the bike after the sighting lap so rolled him off the grid, the team worked really hard to fix it but he had to start from the pit lane. Despite feeling very sore he still plugged on and finished the race in a creditable 20th position."2016 GEARLINK TEAM SPONSORSAKRAPOVIC - B & C EXPRESS - DAYTONA - DBR - E2E - FERIDAX - FORCEFIELD - GALFER - GB RACING - GEARLINK LTD - GOODRIDGE - HJC HELMETS - JOHNY WILLS PHOTOGRAPHY - K-TECH - MAXXIS - MOTOREX - MWR AIR FILTERS - NGK SPARK PLUGS - OXFORD PRODUCTS - PERFORMANCE PARTS - PERFORMANCE FRICTION BRAKES - PRO-BOLT - R & G RACING - RENTHAL -RICETTI - SAMCO SPORT - SCOTT LEATHERS - SHOEI HELMETS - SIGMA PERFORMANCE - SINNIS - SKIDMARX - SOLO SIGNS - SPORT & MEDIA - TSUBAKI - XPRESS COFFEE
