Joe Collier British Supersport Brands round up

Joe Collier was back this weekend at round three of the Dickies British Supersport Championship at Brands Hatch. It was his first appearance on the One Call JJR Triumph and he had a very strong weekend considering the lack of bike time, he gained a sixth and ninth place respectively.Up until Friday morning Joe had not even turned a wheel on the Triumph and it was definitely a tough weekend to get everything sorted and working correctly. The One Call JJR Triumph team worked tirelessly to ensure Joe had the best possible equipment to do the job.Since he changed teams everyone has been flat out trying to sort everything to run their new team; sponsors, bike, engines, team clothing, boarding etc. It has been a tough month but they got to Brands and were looking forward to a challenging weekend.Joe stepped on the bike for the first time at 9.30 on Friday morning for free practice and they spent both practice sessions and qualifying setting up the Triumph to suit him. He ended up qualifying in 20th position for the Sprint race on Saturday; he knew it would be tough but was prepared for the challenge. The heavens opened early in the first part of the race and it was red flagged and re-started a short time later. All riders opted for dry tyres even though it was still slightly wet, Joe got a fantastic start on the re-start and was 12th after lap one. He dug deep and pushed hard through the pack and he was soon on the back of the pack of leaders and comfortably sat in sixth place where he finished. He was promoted to sixth place on the grid for race two on Sunday and despite the bike not being 100% perfect with settings Joe was eager for another half decent finish. He got a steady start but dropped a few positions in the first few laps, he went back to 10th. He rode a hard race and finished the 26-lap race in ninth position.Joe Collier - "It is wrong to say we didn't come to Brands for results but we knew it was very much a set-up weekend to get a base setting on the bike to help us progress throughout the rest of the season. It was a quick learning curve on the new electronics system compared to what was used on my Triumph last year so there was a lot to learn and we had no base settings.I'm really pleased with the results I managed to get this weekend and I know there is so much more to come in the future events. I'm hoping to try and get a test done before Knockhill and continue to move forwards with everything.I can't thank enough people for helping me to get to Brands this weekend, a huge thank you to my Dad, Mark and my team especially James and Tony. Everyone has worked so hard to put everything together and we managed to do it. Also to all my sponsors, One Call Insurance especially, I can't thank everyone enough. I really appreciate it and hope the season will progress well, see you at Knockhill!"."2016 Personal SponsorsMC Motors - One Call Insurance - Leicester MV Agusta - KGN Pillinger - Gemini Control Systems - McCarroll Engineering - Silkolene - Daytona - Shoei - Spidi - Knox - Hamilton Glass - Jap4Performance - Shredz Fitness Centre
