TICKETS are now on sale for the British Final at Belle Vue on Monday June 13.
The best of British will be competing at the National Speedway Stadium which hosts the event for the first time after opening for business earlier this season.
Supporters can avoid race-day queues and ticket office crowds with the Aces’ Tickets@Home! scheme. Tickets can be purchased online, and then downloaded with an e-ticket then printed to have instant access to the stadium.
The online address for ordering is www.bellevueaces.co with a call and collect option also available.Meanwhile Danny King and Josh Bates have been handed the Wild Card places to complete the line-up for the Final.
King, who finished third in last year’s event at Wolverhampton, missed his scheduled semi-final at Glasgow due to a clash with a World Championship qualifier in Germany the same weekend.British Under-21 Champion Bates, meanwhile, received the nod for the other Wild Card after just missing out on qualification at Scunthorpe when he was edged out in a run-off by Richard Hall.Bates said: “To get a Wild Card for the British Final is amazing, and it will be one of the biggest meetings of my career so I’m looking forward to it.“I was disappointed I didn’t qualify, because I thought I rode well but I had bike problems in the run-off with Richard Hall.“I’m over the moon to still get a chance, and I’ll just give it my all like I always do. It’s a big track at Belle Vue, which I like, so I hope I can do myself proud. “I can go there with no pressure on me, so I’ll be trying to make some good starts, mix it with the top riders and upset a few people.”Meanwhile a decision has been made to dispose with the Wild Card option from 2017 onwards. The top eight from each semi-final next year will make up the 16 riders for the Final itself, increasing the pressure on riders to qualify.BRITISH FINAL DRAW: 1. ELITE LEAGUE LATEST…
BELLE VUE put in a spectacular display to take their third away win of the season with a 49-41 victory at reigning champions Poole on Monday.Aces boss Mark Lemon said: “It would have been nice to have done that in last year’s Final! There’s a definite element of job satisfaction tonight. We came here for the win and that’s what we got.“We formulated a plan and with the way we performed I think it’s fair to say things went to script for us. A few of the Pirates weren’t quite on form tonight but they are very much a quality outfit.”COVENTRY boss Gary Havelock is hoping last Friday’s 54-39 home win over Lakeside shows the Bees have turned the corner with their form at Brandon.Havelock said: “It was our best home performance so far, and we certainly needed it. We need to get into a run of winning our home matches having lost two already, but I’ve always had belief in this team and the boys are great to work with.“Our problem has been inconsistency, but we’re slowly starting to eke that back when you look through the team – and Adam (Roynon) did a fantastic job coming in. I’ve always got on really well with him, he jumped at the chance of riding for us, and paid ten was amazing.” KING’S LYNN boss Rob Lyon admitted the Stars’ 38-55 defeat at Swindon last Thursday had proved to be a tough night for his side.Lyon said: ““It was Kai’s (Huckenbeck) first time here and when it’s in good shape it’s a difficult track to ride, let alone tonight, so it’s a big learning curve for him as are all the away tracks first time around – and unfortunately Wilko (Carl Wilkinson) has had one of his not so good nights, but he gives 100 per cent, and you can’t fault him for that.“Troy (Batchelor) is pleased to get his first one out of the way – he was really hoping last night (Wednesday) would be on, on his home track, but he started off with a good win and I’m sure there will be some bigger scores coming his way soon.”LAKESIDE promoter Jon Cook said Saturday’s impressive 60-33 home win over Coventry was a statement of intent during a busy spell, coming 24-hours after the Hammers had missed out at Brandon.Cook said: “It was a tremendous performance, and we were absolutely delighted to see Lewis Kerr and Lewis Bridger in such fantastic form.“It's good to be busy, and we're already looking forward to our meeting against Leicester on Friday where we'll be looking to build on tonight's great win.”LEICESTER boss Norrie Allan admitted his side had been unable to cope with Wolverhampton’s late surge as they fell to a third home defeat on Saturday.Allan said: “We were trailing Wolverhampton for much of the match and did well to pull level with three races to go but they had so much top end strength that it fell away for us at the end.”POOLE promoter Matt Ford says his team must quickly move on from their home defeat to Belle Vue on Monday which ended an unbeaten Wimborne Road run dating back over a year.Ford said: “They are a resilient side and certainly they had the fire in their belly this evening and showed us a thing or two. Whilst it is disappointing to lose our unbeaten run and we were far from our best, the Aces are a good team and Lemo has got them believing in themselves. “It is a very even league this year and there is still a way to go. We must put this behind us and go again.”SWINDON made it five straight wins with a 55-38 home success over King’s Lynn, with Justin Sedgmen striking a six-ride paid maximum at reserve.Robins boss Alun Rossiter said: “We knew they would come at us early-doors, but I always felt we would be stronger towards the end of the meeting and that’s how it turned out.“It was tough early on, I was a bit surprised with a couple of the decisions which I thought were a bit harsh, but the beauty of our team is that we always have a strong reserve, as Justin showed, although I don’t believe it’s ideal for the guys to go up to the heat-leader spot.”WOLVERHAMPTON returned to the top of the table with a spectacular finale at Leicester, scoring three 5-1s in the last three races for a 51-39 victory.Wolves skipper Freddie Lindgren said: “Tonight was really tricky with the rain we had, and it was a tight match for a long time with only a couple of points in it. “We knew we had to avoid the last places for a while which we managed to do, and in the end it was a really good effort to get the 5-1s in the last few heats to get the win.”

BERWICK have completed the signing of Dutch teenager Romano Hummel who will make his debut at Sheffield on Thursday – subject to approval from the British Speedway Promoters’ Association Management Committee. The 17-year-old replaces Henning Bager who has completed the 28-day contract he signed last month.Bandits team manager Scott Courtney said: "I’m really excited to welcome Romano to Berwick; he’s a very talented young lad with a bright future in our sport.“He has this all-action style which our fans will love, plus a very good attitude.”EDINBURGH snatched a late consolation Premier League point despite going down 47-42 at Rye House. The Monarchs trailed by nine-points going into the final heat, when Kevin Wolbert and Sam Masters combined for a vital final heat 5-1.Team boss John Campbell was relieved to come away from Hoddesdon with something to show for their efforts.Campbell told the Edinburgh Evening News: “We were doing well until the interval but their two reserves won the next two races which was a bit of a kick for us – I was pleased to come away with a point in the end.”GLASGOW continued their dominance at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium with a 60-29 victory in their Knockout Cup first leg tie against Redcar. The Scottish Tigers reached 60 points for a third consecutive home meeting as they took one giant step towards the Quarter-Finals of the competition.Tigers reserve Coty Garcia said: “It’s a good score and it could have been even better!“We have a really good advantage and we must now see what happens in the second leg.” IPSWICH boss Ritchie Hawkins is backing his team to turn their fortunes around after an inconsistent start to the campaign. The Witches picked up a hard fought 48-45 win at home to Edinburgh last Thursday before going down to the same scoreline at Peterborough on Sunday after throwing away an early 12-point lead.Said Hawkins: “Looking at the riders and knowing who I've got in the team, we're not in the best of form but that is only temporary as they say.“A lot of them are seasoned pro's and this is only a temporary thing for them; our riders are class riders despite the current form.”NEWCASTLE made it three wins on the spin with a comprehensive 60-31 victory over Redcar in the League Cup on Monday. It leaves the Diamonds’ destiny in the competition in their own hands knowing a win away at Redcar later in the season would seal their place in the semi-finals.Team manager George English said: “To win by 29 points was an excellent and determined effort from the lads especially Robert Lambert who scored his first maximum for us in fine style.”PETERBOROUGH pulled back an early 12-point deficit to beat Ipswich 48-45 in the League Cup on Sunday. The Panthers rounded off their fixtures in the competition in dramatic style as they missed out on the semi-finals by just one single point.Team boss Jason Attwood said: It was a very entertaining meeting and I’m delighted to come out of it with a win even though we made hard work of it.”“It is very difficult to recover from being 12 points behind at any stage of a meeting, but we managed to do it.”PLYMOUTH hope to bring in a new No.1 prior to this Friday’s Premier League clash at home to Workington. The Devils were rocked when Danish star Charlie Gjedde quit British Speedway at the end of last month and have used guest replacements since.Team manager Lee Trigger says his side will need to be on top form against the Comets who include three former Plymouth riders in their line-up.Said Trigger: “It is going to be a tough one for us because they all know the track well.“We all need to be firing because the meeting is likely to be as challenging as any we are likely to face.”REDCAR’s miserable 2016 campaign continued as they suffered three defeats in the space of five days. The Bears went down 47-43 at home to Workington on Thursday before being swept aside convincingly at Newcastle (60-31) and Glasgow in the Knockout Cup (60-29).Jitendra Duffill’s side face another stern test as they look to restore some pride at home to the Tigers this Thursday.RYE HOUSE battled their way to a 47-42 win over reigning Premier League Champions Edinburgh on SundayThe Rockets’ septet all chipped in with some vital contributions as Peter Karger picked up his first heat win in Rye colours.Said Karger: “That was the best heat of my life! I was so happy to finally get that first heat win out of the way - I definitely got a real confidence boost there, and hopefully I can build on that now.”SCUNTHORPE promoter Rob Godfrey says his side can’t afford to drop many more points as he targets a rise up the Premier League table. The Scorpions suffered a 49-43 defeat at the hands of local rivals Sheffield on Sunday in their third home defeat of the year.Said Godfrey: “We dropped three points at home to Sheffield, and we don’t want to drop anymore. “The bottom line is that we must beat Peterborough and start climbing the table.”SHEFFIELD moved up to second in the Premier League table following their 49-43 triumph at local rivals Scunthorpe. The Tigers continued their fine run of form as they made it three wins on the bounce after another solid team performance against the Scorpions.Co-boss Marc Bates said: “Steady (Simon Stead) led by example again as captain, Dimitri (Berge) is riding brilliantly at the moment and Kyle had a great meeting.“Everyone else played their part; it was another strong performance so we were delighted with another away win.”SOMERSET kept their hopes of League Cup qualification alive with a 38-28 home victory against Plymouth on Friday. The meeting was cut short after 11 races due to dangerous conditions caused by heavy downpours of rain throughout the meeting. While no official Rebels meeting takes place this Friday, the Oaktree Arena will be hosting a challenge meeting between the Exter Falcons and the Isle of Wight.WORKINGTON boss Tony Jackson says his side face a challenging weekend ahead with two meetings in two days. The Comets travel to Plymouth on Friday before hosting high-flying Sheffield on Saturday.Team manager Tony Jackson said: “The Tigers have three former Comets in their side including number one, and former Derwent Park favourite, Simon Stead, along with two members of last year’s side, Kyle Howarth and Nathan Greaves.“A fascinating encounter is in prospect, which should be a real test for us and a terrific meeting for the supporters to enjoy.”
NATIONAL LEAGUE LATEST…
BELLE VUE will take a 14-point lead into the second leg of their Knockout Cup tie with Stoke at the National Speedway Stadium on Wednesday (7.30).Skipper Matt Williamson said: “Of course we’re eager to get back into action at home, myself in particular because I’ve only had the one meeting! It’s such a good stadium. We want to be riding there as much as possible!“Without sounding too confident, I don’t think Stoke will recover the deficit. We’ve won both our home matches and we’re going into this with a positive attitude, focused on getting the job done.“That said, we know we can’t afford to underestimate our opponents. Yes, they’ve not had the best starts to the year but that shouldn’t suggest they’re not capable of turning their fortunes around.”BIRMINGHAM boss Graham Drury insists his riders are fired up ahead of Wednesday’s National League home clash against Rye House at Perry Barr (7.30).Drury said: “With everything that’s gone on over the past week or so, it has only made us even more determined and it will make us even stronger as a group than we already were.“While we’d have much preferred to have had a rider in on a temporary basis to cover Tom’s absence, we’re left with our hands tied and there’s no other option than rider replacement.“Rye House have got a very powerful heat-leader trio and they will give us a run for our money. Hopefully our strength in depth will see us over the line but our supporters can be our seventh rider by giving the lads plenty of vocal support and turning out in big numbers.”BUXTON manager Jason Pipe is desperate to see them get their season back on track as they take on King’s Lynn at the Adrian Flux Arena on Wednesday (7.30).Pipe commented: “We head to Norfolk on Wednesday evening full of confidence and I can see no reason why we can't surprise one or two people and get a result.“All our lads are really up for this meeting and they believe we can get something. I'm sure that the fans will be in for a good, entertaining meeting.”COVENTRY Storm put in a battling display at Cradley on Monday night before slipping to a 52-38 defeat.Team boss Laurence Rogers stated: “I’m proud of the boys tonight, they battled hard and the result doesn’t justify their efforts, being without Liam (Carr) and Jamie (Halder).“It was a good team performance with a great spirit amongst them. Everyone chipped in with what they needed to do, and we have to take that on to Mildenhall on Sunday now.”CRADLEY pulled off an impressive late show to beat Coventry 52-38 and move onto level points with neighbours Birmingham at the top of the National League.Heathens co-promoter Gary Patchett said: "We were run pretty close and made to work hard in the first two thirds of the meeting but we're always confident of having a strong finish and that proved to be the case once more tonight."This team was built very top-heavy so there is that expectation of course but our top three lived up to the pressure again and it was another big win."We won by 14-points in the end but in all honesty it could and probably should have been by even more.” EASTBOURNE chairman Martin Dugard remains confident they will emerge as one of the National League front-runners after an inconsistent start to the season. He told the Speedway Star: “We are still not settled at the moment. We are almost there but we are just ironing out a few problems.“Once they are sorted, I think we will be able to run with all the clubs, no problem at all.” ISLE OF WIGHT boss Neil Vatcher is keen to see them overcome a stern test as they host Belle Vue at Smallbrook on Thursday (7.30).Vatcher told the Speedway Star: “After picking up four points from our last two league matches, it’s important we keep our momentum going.“It will be a very difficult home match against a strong looking Belle Vue team, who I rate very highly. They have strong heat-leaders in the shape of Williamson, Payne and Shuttleworth plus a little matter of the new wizzkid who should fly around the Island, 16-year-old Dan Bewley.” KENT reserve Jack Thomas was in jubilant mood after his stunning paid maximum led them to a 66-24 thrashing of Coventry last Monday.“I feel chuffed, I couldn’t be more excited!” Thomas told the Speedway Star. “It went so well for me tonight. The boys were pushing me in the pits and helping me with setups, and I told Danny Ayres in my last ride I was going to beat him, but maybe next time!“It’s amazing to think this time last year I was riding in the British Youth Championships and now I’m here in the National League with Kent.” KING’S Lynn Young Stars will be looking to continue their encouraging start to the season when they host Buxton at the Adrian Flux Arena on Wednesday (7.30).Team boss Dale Allitt said: “It’s good to be at full strength, and from our point of view we need to get back to winning ways at home and get three points on the board to keep pushing for the play-offs. “We’re there or thereabouts at the moment with a couple of home matches coming up, so we need to maximise those.“You should never take anything for granted, and obviously we will look at Wednesday’s opposition very closely and prepare properly for the meeting.”MILDENHALL promoter Kevin Jolly was delighted to continue their upturn in form with a hard-fought 48-42 win over Belle Vue at West Row on Sunday.Jolly said: “That was more like the type of performance we want to see, the spirit and fight was there and with all of the top five contributing well we always held too many aces for our opponents! “Alfie (Bowtell) and Connor (Coles) looked much sharper today and now they will hopefully kick on and have big seasons. “Of course the return of Armo made a difference, he seems to lift the place, and his skill and determination was as always a pleasure to see.“We have a run of home meetings now we need to win and I feel confident we can do this now and set our season up nicely”RYE HOUSE will head to Birmingham this Wednesday (7.30) after bringing forward their meeting at Perry Barr. The Raiders were originally due to head to the second city on July 27 but agreed to a change to fill a blank space in the Brummies’ fixture list.STOKE face an uphill task when they take on the Belle Vue Colts in the second leg of their Knockout Cup tie at the National Speedway Stadium. They will need to overcome a 14-point deficit to progress, but team manager Malcolm Vasey said: “We are going to Belle Vue to that fabulous new stadium and we want to put on a display that is fitting for such a wonderful stadium.“We will be looking to make it a close match for all the supporters there. There is no pressure on us since no one expects us to overhaul a fourteen-point lead and we will be doing our very best and see how things go.”
