CRH Racing Ready for Silverstone GT Cup

CRH Racing head to Silverstone this coming weekend, May 28th and 29th, for the latest three rounds of the GT Cup determined again to show the pace that has impressed in their sprint race outings to date. The squad have been podium visitors in Saturday’s shorter races but so far the fates have not been kind to them in the longer two-driver races on a GT Cup Sunday – but that could all change at Silverstone! The team’s GT Cup campaign took a blow at the opening meeting when Jonathan Evans, who had taken second in class in the first race of the season, was hit by another car in race two seriously damaging the CRH Racing Porsche 997 GT3 Cup. Fantastic team-work after that meeting – including a multi-country European tour picking up parts – saw the car back on track just two weeks later at Brands Hatch where Jonathan recorded another podium finish in one of Saturday’s two ‘sprint’ races – only for a puncture to sideline the Porsche in Sunday’s longer race just after team-mate Tom Bradshaw had taken the car over.“Silverstone should be good,” said Jonathan. “I haven’t raced on this layout at Silverstone before, though I have done an awful lot of laps round the full GP circuit, but we should hit the ground running and be on the front foot this time. We are gelling well as a team now and can move from having to react to things to being proactive about our racing.Tom is the team’s ‘Professional’ category driver and only permitted to race the car in the two-driver race that closes each GT Cup weekend. He was on-board at Brands Hatch when a puncture as he passed the pit exit saw him park the Porsche rather than risk damaging it on a slow lap of the full circuit.“We got off lightly with the puncture at Brands Hatch and the car was fine,” explained Tom, “it had felt really good to that point and has improved since the start of the season so we know we are heading in the right direction with the Porsche. I’m excited to be going to Silverstone – I think we will have a car that will be right on the pace.”Saturday the 28th sees two 25-minute races at 14.30 and 17.15, with Jonathan on board the CRH Racing Porsche, while on Sunday he is joined by Tom for the 50-minute two-driver race set for a 14.20 start. All three races are on Silverstone’s shorter ‘National’ layout.
