Volkswagen Motorsport Weekend Review

FIA World Rallycross ChampionshipLydden Hill: Kristoffersson in the points again

Johan Kristoffersson (S) and Anton Marklund (S) of the Volkswagen RX Sweden team scored valuable points towards the Drivers’ Championship at round four of the FIA World Rallycross Championship (WRX) at Lydden Hill (GB). However, they missed out on the first podiums of the season. Kristoffersson finished eighth, Marklund eleventh. Guest starter Tanner Foust, who otherwise drives a Beetle in the Global Rallycross series (GRC), had to retire early in the weekend due to a technical issue. While Marklund picked up seven points in the Drivers’ Championship, Kristoffersson’s twelve points took his tally to 70 in total. He remains third in the overall standings. The Swedish team is now third in the team world championship with 102 points.

Volkswagen Fun Cup BelgiumAllure Team bags brace of wins in Zandvoort

The Volkswagen Allure Team could not have hoped for a better third race weekend. Drivers Cédric Bollen (B) and Frédéric Caprasse (B) bagged the Belgian racing team an impressive brace of wins in Zandvoort (NL). Another Belgian outfit, the Bustin team, finished runner-up on both occasions. The fans were treated to some spectacular racing in dry and sunny conditions, particularly in the first of the two races. The Allure, Bustin and AC Motorsport teams scrapped for every second at the start of the race, before Caprasse was able to pull away from and take victory. Allure were joined on the podium by the Bustin and AC Motorsport 1 teams. The podium had a similar look to it after race two: Bustin once again followed Allure home. Third place this time went to Leader Racing. The two-seater races were won by the Trendy Foods Monster and CBRS teams.
