Daniel Lloyd is ready to stamp his mark on the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship this coming weekend (June 4/5) as the UK’s premier motor racing series heads north to Cheshire’s Oulton Park circuit. Relishing his return to the BTCC grid, the 24-year-old has high ambitions for the weekend as he looks to improve on his impressive debut at Thruxton just over three weeks ago. Taking the Eurotech Racing Honda Civic Type R to the track for the first time, Lloyd showed encouraging pace out of the box securing the Jack Sears Trophy for the highest scoring rookie of the weekend and collecting points in all three races with a top seven result in race 2.
“Thruxton was a good weekend but I’m definitely hoping that Oulton Park will be better!” commented Lloyd. “To get three points finishes on our debut in amongst such a competitive field was great, but I know that we have more to offer.”
Known as a fans’ favourite, Oulton Park is a circuit loved by spectators and drivers alike. With its picturesque setting and undulations, the tight and twisty layout is well suited to the Civic Type R chassis and the Honda has performed well there in the past.
“I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel of the Honda again;” added Lloyd. “As a team we had a strong weekend at Thruxton so hopefully we can push forward and be challenging some of the front-runners. I know it’s a big ask but I’m confident that the car is on the pace and if we can nail qualifying then I feel sure we will be right up there in the mix.”
“I love Oulton Park. It’s a real drivers’ circuit - exciting to race on and exciting to watch as well and it’s one of the closest circuits to home for me;” continued Lloyd. “We have a really busy weekend ahead of us with fantastic local support from my long-term sponsors Silver Bay Point, Support Warehouse, Mend a Hose, the Print Academy as well as Pro-Pack and we also have the ITV on-board cameras in the Honda so we should be able to secure some excellent coverage for all of our sponsors.”Rounds 10, 11 & 12 of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship take place at Oulton Park on June 4/5.
