AMG-Team HTP Motorsport secures second spot in heart-beat-final at the Nurburgring

The AMG-Team HTP Motorsport secured second place in the 44th edition of the ADAC Zurich 24h-race with their #29 Mercedes-AMG GT3 following a highly exciting and heart-beating final.

Both Mercedes-AMG GT3 by AMG-Team HTP Motorsport were already qualified for the Top-10 qualifying, taking place on Friday. Christian Hohenadel took to the track from P16 in the #29 and set the ninth best lap-time. His team-mate Stefan Mücke started in ninth place and set the 11th best time in the #30 sister car.

Both cars had a good start into the 24h-Race on Saturday afternoon and were able to make up a few positions early on. The race was red-flagged on lap five following a severe thunderstorm with rain and hail that caused chaos at the Nordschleife. The re-start took place at 7pm and both AMG-Team HTP Motorsport drivers were able to run in the top positions.

Unfortunately, the #30 Mercedes-AMG GT3 retired during the night. Maximilian Buhk lost control over the car in the high-speed part Adenauer Forst and crashed into the barriers at high speed. Buhk escaped unhurt, but the damage on the Mercedes-AMG GT3 was not reparable.

The number 29 was consistently running in the Top-3 positions and offered a great heart-beating final with the #4 Black-Falcon. The drivers Christian Vietoris (GER), Marco Seefried (GER), Christian Hohenadel (GER) and Renger Van der Zande (NDL) crossed the finishing line in a great second place.

“We had a really good race weekend”, says Norbert Brückner, Team Principal AMG-Team HTP Motorsport. “Our cars were running without any problems throughout the weekend and we are able to show our potential. It is a shame, that we lost the #30 taking into consideration the great overall results by AMG. I am sure, we could have achieved a good finish with the #30 as well. I would like to congratulate Black-Falcon for taking overall victory and all other participants, to make this race so exciting right until the chequered flag.”
