With the summer season now officially upon us, the High Speed Television channel has a plethora of top-quality motorsport on show that will make the perfect accompaniment for an ice cream with 99 Flake.
We kick off with the second half of the FIM MXGP championship from St Jean d'Angely in France. After two winless meetings, Slovenia’s Tim Gasjer dominated the last round in Spain to open up a 24-point lead in the standings over defending champion Romain Febvre. The Frenchman will be desperate to bounce back on home turf and at a venue where he took a win and a second last year, but could a returning Gautier Paulin steal his thunder?
MX fans can also catch live coverage of all the action in the MX2 class, as Jeffrey Herlings seeks to continue his march to a third world title. With a 100% podium finishing record this season, can anyone stop the Flying Dutchman?
Over on four wheels, we’ll have a double bill of live action from Paul Ricard as the EuroFormula Open and International GT Open series descend on the South of France. Renault F1 junior Jack Aitken and Leonardo Pulcini have been the men to beat in the F3-style series so far, but a brace of thirds from top rookie Ferdinand Habsburg at Spa suggests they may not have it all their own way.
Meanwhile, four different winners from four races in GT Open mean the championship is wide-open heading into round three. Ex-F1 driver Tonio Liuzzi will be along for the ride in a Lamborghini Huracan, but will he make an instant impression against an experienced field of top-line GT racers?
There’s more GT action coming your way too, with highlights of the third and fourth rounds of the British GT championship from the tight and twisty Oulton Park. After a pair of two-hour encounters got the season underway, sprint racing will be the name of the game at the Cheshire circuit, so expect some frantic to-and-fro battling and interesting interpretations of track limits as the drivers fight to get to the top step of the podium.
We’ll also be bringing you delayed-as-live coverage from the TCR International Series at the high-speed Salzburgring in Austria, the BRDC British F3 championship from Oulton Park, plus Porsche Supercup action from Barcelona and Monaco and the Audi Sport TT Cup from the Nurburgring.
And as if that’s not enough, we’ll be bringing you all the action from the weird and wonderful Dutch Supercar Challenge series at Oschersleben, as LMP3 machinery from Ginetta and Ligier are pitted against Mosler and Volvo. Now, about those ice creams…
