Orange 1 Team Lazarus wins the third round at Paul Ricard Second place for Grasser Racing Team in the ADAC GT Masters at LausitzringPole Position for the team Paul Miller Racing in the IMSA WeatherTech in Detroit
It has been a busy and exciting weekend for Lamborghini in the major GT competitions. The Huracán GT3s have been engaged on several fronts, from Europe with the double rounds of the International GT Open at Paul Ricard and the one of the ADAC GT Masters at Lausitzring, to the United States with the race of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in Detroit.
The first victory of the season in the International GT Open has arrived right at Paul Ricard, thanks to Orange 1 Team Lazarus with the crew formed by Thomas Biagi and Fabrizio Crestani. After starting at the back, in eighth position, the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 of the Italian team climbed the rankings and, thanks to an excellent race strategy and a contact between two cars fighting for the first position, won the top step of the podium. The debut of the team FFF Racing in the GT Open was also positive, with a Huracán GT3 driven by the ex F1 driver Vitantonio Liuzzi and Andrea Caldarelli.
During Race 1 on Saturday, the two fast Italian drivers, finished in third place overall, after a recovery with fast laps. Positive results also for the team Ebimotors which arrived sixth in Race 1, with the duo formed by Fabio Babini and Emanuele Busnelli. The third round of the season of the ADAC GT Masters, held at Lausitzring, has been a challenging race as well.
The Grasser Racing Team dominated during Race 1: the Huracán GT3 driven by Rolf Ineichen and Christian Engelhart managed to get the second step of the podium, with a total of 33 cars on the grid. The car number 63 was not as lucky during Race 2, it was excluded from the competition due to a number of contacts at the start, in which several cars were involved. It was the Lamborghini number 16 which raised the banner of the Grasser Racing Team.
The car with Mirko Bortolotti and Luca Stolz behind the wheel was in second position during most of the race, but a drive through received a few minutes before the end (due to a penalty inflicted during the pit stop) relegated them to seventh final position. It is also worth mentioning the excellent performance of the team Bonaldi Motorsport, which, with the Huracán GT3 driven by Patrick Kujala and Milos Pavlovic, finished in eighth position after a great recovery started from nineteenth position. In the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, instead, the team Paul Miller Racing has obtained its first pole position of the season during the fifth round of the American GT championship, held at the circuit of Belle Isle Park in Detroit. Bryan Sellers, paired with the Lamborghini GT3 Junior Driver Madison Snow, was the fastest during qualifying in GTD class.
The Lamborghini Huracán GTD dominated its category for most of the race, but after the restart due to a neutralization, it lost five positions and finished in eighth place. Instead, the Huracán GTD of the team Change Racing, with Corey Lewis and Spencer Pumpelly behind the wheel, finished in sixth position. Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A.
