Link Up Ltd British Autotest Championship

Round 6: Hartlepool, 12 June

Alastair Moffatt took the win in wet conditions at the Hartlepool Autotest.

Malcolm Livingston took an early lead on a damp and cold morning, but after another three tests both Richard Pinkney and Moffatt had closed the gap.

Overnight rain had left the surface with an unpredictable level of grip, not helped by areas of sand from the adjacent beach, and all four leaders reported near misses during the morning’s nine tests.

The lunchtime scoreboard showed that Moffatt had opened up a three-second lead over Pinkney, with Livingston (suffering an oil leak on the car) a further nine seconds back. As the surface dried out in the afternoon, Moffatt stretched his lead out to 36 seconds over Pinkney.
