KING’S Lynn owner Keith Chapman is anticipating a spectacular opening round of the World Under-21 Final at the Adrian Flux Arena this Saturday.Sixteen of the biggest potential shale stars of the future will go head-to-head for the first time – including four British riders in Josh Bates, Adam Ellis, Robert Lambert and Wild Card Zach Wajtknecht.Said Chapman: “It is an honour to be hosting such another big meeting after having one of the Grand Prix qualifying rounds here just a few months ago.“The racing that night was excellent and it made us all at King's Lynn very proud once again.“The World Under-21's are always as exciting as well and I don't think this year's is going to be any different.“There really are some top quality youngsters on display in this series who have got the potential to go on and have massive careers in this sport. It should be a great night and I’m sure they will serve us up a treat.”

BERWICK have moved for Austrian racer Daniel Gappmaier to fill the vacancy left by Roman Hummel’s departure.Gappmaier is set to make his debut for the Bandits in the home Premier League clash with Ipswich on Saturday.Co-promoter Dennis McCleary said: “We have had a bit of a tug of war with another PL club over him. Daniel was recommended to us by former Bandit Mark Courtney (father of team manager Scott) and also Cameron Anderson (son of chairman John) both of whom had seen him in action this year.“He has qualified, doing well in difficult conditions at Abensberg, for the GP semi-final meeting at Lonigo next month where he will race amid some very distinguished company and we feel he will be a valuable addition to our roster.”

NEWCASTLE will play host to three of the top four riders from this week’s British Final when they host Ipswich on Sunday.New Champion Danny King leads the Witches, whilst the Diamonds will welcome back Robert Lambert and Steve Worrall who finished third and fourth respectively at Belle Vue.Newcastle boss George English said: “We were delighted for Robert and Steve and though they were both obviously so disappointed to miss out on the title having come so close, they should both be very proud of their performances on the biggest of stages for British Speedway riders.“And of course the first and only place this weekend to see three of the top four in the British Final in action in the same match is at Newcastle this coming Sunday when Ipswich head to Tyneside!”

THE Isle of Wight pulled off a dramatic comeback to edge out Mildenhall 45-44 in the Travel Plus National League on Tuesday.The Warriors trailed by eight points after five races but recovered to level the scores in Heat 13, a position which was maintained going into the final heat.Both teams saw a rider crash out of Heat 15 as the home side’s James Cockle and the Fen Tigers’ Dan Halsey came to grief, but in the re-run Joe Jacobs completed a 15-point maximum as he headed Connor Mountain to give his team the narrowest of wins.(FIXTURES)
