Jonathan Aberdein heads back to Oschersleben for the fourth round of the ADAC German Formula 4 championship with a spring in his step and a twinkle in his eye following a pretty exciting whirlwind trip home to Cape Town last week.
Jono paid a visit to his home kart track over the last weekend and ended up racing — and winning in the Senior Max class where he is the reigning champion. “It was a bit of a surprise, but good to get back into a kart in anger and especially to fight with my old rivals and even win a race,” Jono admitted. “It has also put me in the right frame of mind for Oschersleben this weekend.”
ADAC Formula 4 returns to the circuit where Jonathan made his series debut earlier in the season and that’s another positive: “It’s the first time I am returning to race at a circuit for the second time here and we have also tested quite a bit at Oschersleben, so the learning curve is a bit flatter this weekend,” Aberdein admitted.
“We had some pretty good pace last time out, so with a little extra knowledge of where we are going for once, I hope to keep on progressing and to become a little more intrenched in the top ten. “I am learning all the time — this is a super-competitive series and it’s also my first full season of car racing so I suppose I should be satisfied, but I want more - let’s see if I can get it this weekend.”
An interesting circuit with a blend ot tight and technical aspects and fast, sweeping sections, Oschersleben is a prpular racetrack with drivers thanks to some quite unique challenges . Follow Jonathan’s progress live via streaming and live timing at www.adac-motorsport.de/adac-formel-4.
