There’s no letting up in the Motors TV schedule in June, with another feast of entertainment coming up on the High Speed Television channel this weekend.
MXGP comes to Britain as Matterley Basin in Winchester hosts Round 11 of the all-action Motocross World Championship. Hopes of a British success will lie with KTM’s Shaun Simpson, but after the Scot broke his hand in Spain, it may be asking a little too much too soon for him to take on Romain Febvre and Tim Gajser. Between them, the pair have shared out 16 wins from the 20 available this season, leaving mere scraps for the rest of the field. But as the title battle intensifies, will it be the Frenchman or the Slovenian who comes out on top?
Don’t worry MX2 fans, we’ve got you covered too. As Jeffrey Herlings’ quest for a third title draws ever-nearer to its conclusion after his 18th and 19th victories of the season last time out in France, attentions begin to focus on who will be runner-up. The only man to beat the Dutchman this season, Dylan Ferrandis, is some way back having missed four rounds through injury, so the battle is likely to be between Suzuki rider Jeremy Seewer and Herling’s KTM team-mate Pauls Jonass.
Over on four-wheels, we’ll also be bringing you touring car racing at its very best, with the TCR International Series live from Oschersleben. In variable weather conditions at the Salzburging, wins for Mikhail Grachev and Jean-Karl Vernay meant it was honours even again between Honda and VW, while a terrible weekend for Pepe Oriola meant the SEAT driver lost the points lead to defending champion Stefano Comini. With the top six drivers separated by just 20 points, a good weekend in Oschersleben will be vital heading into the second half of the season.
After that, it’s over to Donington Park for delayed-as-live coverage of Motors TV Raceday as the BARC’s wide range of saloon and sportscar championships take centre stage. With Classic Touring Car mayhem from the 60s, 70s and 80s, as well as Max5s, the Porsche GB Championship and four different Mini championships on offer, thrills and spills will be in plentiful supply…
But that’s not all; on Saturday morning we’ll have a treble-bill of bike action, with the FIM Supermoto and FIM EnduroGP World Championships from Italy and Finland respectively followed by British Minibikes from Redlodge.
Moving swiftly on, we’ll be inviting you to get covered in dust on the Severn Valley Stages, featuring some of the top contenders from the British Rally Championship in the latest machinery from Ford, Mitsubishi and Proton. And for good measure, we’re also throwing in British GT and BRDC F3 highlights from Silverstone. But will the famously fickle weather have a part to play?
