Round 3: Santa Pod Raceway, 25-26 June
The MSA Pro Modifieds highlight this weekend’s Summer Nationals at Santa Pod. Philip Englefield leads the championship narrowly ahead of Andy Robinson and Kevin Slyfield. A fourth contender, Jean Dulamon, has withdrawn after suffering engine damage in last month’s round two during The Main Event.
Last time out, all three were on song. Englefield and Slyfield both achieved fresh personal-best performance figures while Robinson remains quickest and fastest in the field at 5.968sec/239.05mph.
Among their opponents, look out for newcomer Michel Tooren, who took over the driving seat of the Pro Dutch 1971 Plymouth Barracuda vacated by the untimely death of Robert Joosten and clocked 6.16sec/233mph at The Main Event. With a proven car and crew behind him, Tooren could cause an upset this weekend.
Tickets cost £20 per day or £33 for the weekend, available online or at the gate. Accompanied children under 16 are admitted free, three per paying adult. For further information see www.santapod.co.uk/e_summer_nat.php.
