Malja and Sirotkin receive time penalties

After today’s GP2 Feature Race in Spielberg, two drivers were given time penalties.

First, Gustav Malja was found guilty of overtaking Mitch Evans, Sean Gelael and the Safety Car between Turns 7 and 8 during a SC period without permission from the Race Director. As a consequence, the Rapax driver was given a 10 second time penalty (Stop & Go). Thirty seconds have been added to his elapsed race time. He is now classified P13.

Sergey Sirotkin was also found guilty of failing to re-establish his original starting position before the SC line and of failing to re-enter the pitlane. The ART Grand Prix driver overtook three cars whilst the race was being resumed, after the SC line 1, without the permission of the Race Director. As a consequence, the Russian driver also received a 10 second time penalty (Stop & Go). Thirty seconds have been added to his elapsed race time. He is now classified P12.

These penalties promote Jordan King to P8 and reverse pole position on tomorrow’s starting grid whilst Arthur Pic and Nicholas Latifi take the final points available with P9 and P10.
