BE Motorsport seals VdeV fifth place at Motorland Aragon‏

Javier Ibrán, Toni Castillo and Mathijs Bakker drove the BE Motorsport-entered Ligier-Nissan JSP3 LMP3 home to fifth place finish in Alcañiz, where the fourth round of the VdeV series took place last weekend.

BE Motorsport entered a hotly contested fourth round of the VdeV series at the Motorland Aragón racetrack. Javier Ibrán, Mathijs Bakker and Toni Castillo shared the wheel of the Ligier-Nissan JSP3 LMP3 racing under the banner of BE Motorsport once again. They all performed pretty well despite strong opposition from a well seasoned field of LMP3-built cars.

BE Motorsport was third and fourth in both free practice sessions before heading into qualifying. The Spanish team clocked an average time of 1:49.204 after completing 18 laps around the track. On Sunday, Ibrán, Castillo and Bakker started up front on the grid and they had moved up to 4th in LMP3 class and 7th overall only one hour into the race. At the halfway stage, BE Motorsport was in podium contention running sixth overall and fifth in class and, in the second half, the crew decided not to take any risk. The trio of drivers drove a flawless race bringing the car home in fifth place after four hours of intense racing.

“It was a thrilling race weekend at home and close to a podium finish. To step onto the podium would have been great but anyway we drew positive conclusions from the weekend. Hot temperatures were particularly worrying and we worked on that. Finally it paid off as we overcame searing weather conditions with no problems at all”, Ibrán underlined, adding that “we delivered a good performance, but other rivals were slightly better and definitely it made up the difference. Now we have the summer break ahead but we have plenty of things to do! Our goal is a podium finish, and with that goal in mind we will work for Mugello”.

The Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello will play host to round five on 9-11 September.
