SWEDISH star Antonio Lindback took victory in Saturday’s British Grand Prix at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.Lindback, who had previous spells in the Elite League with Poole and Belle Vue, held off a fierce challenge from World Champion Tai Woffinden to win the Final after an evening of intense racing.Woffinden’s second place enabled him to close the gap on series leader Greg Hancock to just three points, with the American having to settle for fourth on the night behind Polish youngster Bartosz Zmarzlik.Lindback said: “To come to Cardiff and have a win is unbelievable. I have always wanted to win here, so it’s ideal. I was third here before in 2012, so today I’ve stepped up a bit.“For me, it’s great if I can beat Tai. He’s so fast and I just love to race with him. I love racing him on the track and I like him outside the track. It was good fun.”British Champion Danny King impressed with seven points from his final three rides as a Wild Card, just missing out on a semi-final place after a brilliant race win in Heat 19, but a troubled night for Chris Harris saw him score just one.

SCUNTHORPE promoter Rob Godfrey insists his side can get the better of Premier League leaders Glasgow when they meet at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Sunday. The Scorpions have brought their normal start-time forward to 4pm to assist supporters making their way home from Cardiff, and Godfrey is keen to erase the memories of a 19-71 defeat at Ashfield earlier in the season. The Tigers bring in Arthur Sissis as a guest at reserve, with Nike Lunna still on the sidelines.Godfrey said: “We’d love to beat them, because we were humiliated up at Glasgow a couple of months ago, and we’d like to show them we’re a better team than that.“I’m sure the pundits will have marked this one down as an away win, but after the boost in confidence caused by our victory over Ipswich, I have every faith in the lads giving the Tigers one heck of a match and hopefully we’ll get the right result out of it at the end.”Glasgow skipper Aaron Summers said: “I think it's a place we can go and win at, for sure. “They had a good win last weekend after their rider order changed around, but I think we're strong enough all the way through for the boys to pull it out and get the away points, which would definitely help us at the top of the table.”(FIXTURES)
