Luke Mossey's Snetterton BSB review

It was a challenging weekend for Luke Mossey and the Quattro Plant TecCare Kawasaki team at round five of the MCE British Superbike Championship at the Snetterton 300 circuit. Despite starting from 28th place for race one he secured a strong seventh place and was 13th place in race two after an off track excursion. The weekend was going really well for Luke and even in wet practice on Friday morning, he went fastest and then third quickest in the dry afternoon session. He was feeling really comfortable on Saturday and avoided the third practice session due to the changing weather conditions. He was eager to get out for qualifying, it was perfect conditions but Luke got caught out on the second lap and tucked the front crashing out and leaving him to start race one from 28th position.Luke got a really strong start and avoided the carnage of the first lap and progressed through to 15th place by the end of lap one. He soon got his head down and continued to push hard up through the pack, battling with former Supersport rival Jake Dixon. Luke rode a fantastic race over the 16 laps to finish in seventh place. He moved up from 28th place on the grid to eighth for race two. He was sixth after lap one and in podium contention but on lap five he went for the brakes at the bottom of the back straight and the lever came back to the bars, causing him to run down the slip road and re-join down in 17th position. He managed to get his head down and fight his way back up to 13th when the race was red-flagged on lap 12. Luke is now lying in 10th place in the overall Championship standings.Luke Mossey - "It wasn't the weekend I was expecting. I came here feeling really confident as I've had some really good results here in the past. However, it just wasn't to be. It all started so well on Friday and I was even quick in the wet conditions on Friday morning. I was really looking forward to Saturday and some good race results.Crashing out on the second lap of qualifying certainly wasn't ideal and definitely not part of the plan! It put me a long way back on the grid, I can't remember ever being that far back on the grid and even seeing the lights was a problem! I got a really good start and somehow managed to miss all the carnage on lap one and made up several places after the opening lap.The Kawasaki felt great and I made my way up to seventh place which I was pretty happy with considering where I started from. With my grid position gain I was looking at a strong result in race two, made a good start and was tagging on the back of the top five. I came to brake at the back of the straight and the lever came right back to the bars, luckily I was able to take to the emergency slip road and re-join. I did try and battle my way back but the damage was done.We learnt a lot this weekend and it was certainly character building. I want to thank all the Quattro TECcare Kawasaki team for all their help and hard work this weekend to get me back out on track today. I hope to re-pay them with better results at Thruxton in a few weeks' time."
