TCR PortugalTeam Novadriver second in Portimão with the Golf GTI TCR

Team Novadriver claimed a podium finish at the third race weekend of the TCR Portugal in Portimão (P). The Portuguese duo of Francisco Abreu/Manuel Gião alternated at the wheel of the Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR in the four races at the 4.692-kilometre racetrack in the south of Portugal. Gião finished an impressive second in race four, clocking the fastest lap of the race to cross the finish line behind Francisco Mora (P/Seat), who won all four of the weekend’s races. Gião had previously come home eighth in the opening race of the weekend. Team-mate Abreu narrowly missed out on the podium in race three, but had to settle for fourth place.

GTI ChallengeDoor-to-door battles aplenty: Van der Westhuizen wins Class A

The fifth race weekend of the GTI Challenge once again produced the very best in the way of door-to-door battles and motorsport action. In Class A, Nian du Toit (Jetta) won the opening race at the Killarney Raceway (ZA). Joseph “Jano” van der Westhuizen (Polo) was victorious in difficult wet conditions in race two. The first Class B victory of the weekend went to Eden Thompson (Golf I GTI), with Jacques Geldenhuys (Golf II GTI) winning the second race. Ebrahim Levy (Golf I GTI) dominated Class C, winning both races. The series returns on 6 August, when the Killarney Raceway once again hosts round six of the GTI Challenge.

Volkswagen Polo Cup RussiaPalkin wins Rally 900 Lakes

Pavel Palkin (RUS) is the winner of the second event in the Volkswagen Polo Cup Russia. The man from Moscow finished ahead of Vadim Mescheryakov (RUS) and Yuriy Uryukov (RUS) at the Rally 900 Lakes near the Russian city of Opotschka. The gravel rally consisted of six special stages and 83.01 kilometres against the clock. The next rally will take place in Wyborg (RUS) from 5 to 6 August.

Engen Volkswagen Cup South AfricaLa Réserveé and Liebenberg win in East London

Shaun La Réserveé (ZA) and Bradley Liebenberg (ZA) each won one race at the fourth race weekend of the Engen Volkswagen Cup South Africa. La Réserveé came home ahead of Matt Shorter (ZA) and Liebenberg to win the opening race in East London (ZA). Liebenberg’s big moment came in race two at the 3.921-kilometre Prince George Circuit, taking victory ahead of La Réserveé and Tasmin Pepper (ZA) and setting the fastest lap of the race, in a time of 1:35.031 minutes.

Volkswagen Fun Cup EuropeNetcom by Allure wins the 25 Hours of Spa

The Netcom by Allure team won the ultimate endurance race in the Volkswagen Fun Cup Europe, the “25 Hours of Spa”. 122 cars and 555 drivers from 24 countries were in action at the iconic Grand Prix circuit in the Ardennes, Belgium. The participants produced some thrilling wheel-to-wheel racing on the seven-kilometre track. Incidents resulted in the field being neutralised 45 times in total. The winning team eventually came home 2:57.862 minutes ahead of the Petrolheads team, while AC Motorsport came home three laps behind the winners in third place.
